The whole Sport is.

Rob Godfrey gets let off when clearly he was at fault for Jack Holder. I wonder why he gets to walk free.

Every GP rider a 9.00 who didn't ride here in 2017 except for Vaculik. Don't care if Martin has never ridden here before fact is the ruling is EVERY GP RIDER a 9.00

If I'm being completely honest because I'm not a 2 faced person we have gotten away with Szczepaniak's average seeing as this average was attained years ago and he is a completely different rider now.

You have a bunch of unrealistic average assessments in the Championship Joel Andersson for example who is clearly much better than the assessment.

The whole thing is corrupt tbh

Add in the corruption of some riders getting reassessed and others not.  Either all riders who didn't ride here in 2017 get reassessed or none do. Total corruption indeed.

When Leon Madsen was floating around think its now clear why it didn't happen.

His wage was released today.

He is on 300K a year in Poland now. Plus £850 per point scored .

No need to do the UK if you earning best part of 500K a year and his sponsors will cover the costs he has.

Shows the level of sport.

So, are Poland going to back down allowing us to name Sundstrom and Shanes, or are they going to dig their heels in meaning we name P Pawlicki and Shanes?

1 Brady Kurtz

2. Kacper Woryna

3. Josh Grajczonek

4. Chris Holder

5. Piotr Pawlicki

6. Mateusz Szczepaniak

7. James Shanes

No team out there to touch us with that 1-7. Swap out Pawlicki and bring in Sundstrom and we will still be the powerhouse team in the league. Strongest top 5, with Mateusz Szczepaniak at reserve, supported by Pirates rider of the year in 2017 James Shanes. Should be a very exciting season for us Pirates fans.

Another point to make is with Sundstrom we are well sort of the 42.5. Meaning should a rider underperform, we have scope to redeclare before the first GS to bring in a good replacement.

No wonder his twitter a/c is happy to show him in far flung exotic holidays in the close season ;-)

According to stats he scored 145 points which if it is £850 per point = £123,250 to add to the £300k. Factor in as you say all his sponsors (incl what must be a tasty little deal he announced the other day with Mercedes), then no wonder he doesn't need UK. Can you imagine what an injury on one of our tracks would cost him ??

No great surprise then that he doesn't even need Sweden at those income levels. Factor in him also riding in say SEC qualifiers and probably main tournament. SGP qualifiers plus maybe those infrequent appearances in Germany. He sure doesn't need to over race himself. Believe he even lives there full time now.

Indeed the sport has moved to another level in POL. No wonder young riders such as Brady Kurtz & Jack Holder want to prove their worth in the POL EXL. The potential rewards are mind boggling if the likes of Madsen can aspire to that level of income. OK you still have to prove you can do it though as Madsen has done in POL. The rest of the leagues it doesn't really matter how good or bad he would be as long as he performs on their stage most weeks.

Not only that but 14 league matches only plus a max of 4 play off ties and that's IF they make the play-offs.

Tough at the top huh ??

Madsen was 4th in the averages last year in front of Doyle. He is an extremely high value rider at club level and because of that one of the highest earners in world speedway.

When you factor in the risks involved, the expenses, the time of remaining a top of the top rider, its not that high a figure to be honest. More dangerous than F1. Hamilton earns 35 million a year to put it in perspective.

Assuming it is Sundstrom (if as reported Pawlicki is on 8) then if each rider performs to reasonable form and Woryna improves, I thing Mats Stepz may struggle to get out the reserve berth. If he does will we see the likes of either Chris/Linus/Josh or Woryna drop into reserve.

Doesn't bear thinking about that such riders could each qualify for up to 6 or 7 rides with numerous opportunities to race against other reserves ?? That's if Mats was to bang in some decent scores from reserve thus giving him a possibly inflated average come end of May/early June when the first GSA's tend to come out.

Of course at this stage all theory (before Gav jumps into the discussion), because ultimately it all has to be proved on the track but doesn't hurt to at least dream a little what may happen if the guys were to perform ;-)

Also need if possible injury free.

Firstly Pawlicki doesn't fit but nice trolling attempt!

Secondly if your so sure of those sides makes you wonder why Shanes isn't signed and sealed.

Because any promoter worth their salt can’t offer a team place to Shanes until the more important option is in place. You can’t give Shnes a berth and then discover anheat leade rider is available that now won’t fit by a fraction of a point. That would be a schoolboy error.

A bit like your typing then.

May be a real shortage of 7/7.95 riders out there at present willing to come to UK. No wonder when you see what the likes of Madsen can earn - they don't need UK.

Certainly not helped by the POL max 3 league rule still not being sorted. Matt Ford must have closed out a deal with Sundstrom months ago subject to the POLES lifting the rule as he has said in public he had his side sorted in respect of who he wanted to ride for 2018 as soon as last season had finished. I can only assume that's why he didn't resign Andersen. Also maybe because getting Hans out if he is on a slow downward path mid season might not be as easy as dropping Sundstrom if he didn't perform. Only guessing here.

Also fyi some stats that may have also entered Matt Fords mind in choosing Sundstrom.

Sund was 9th best rider in SWE Elite in 2017 where Ander dropped alarmingly to 40th. And Ander rode nNice 1 where Sud rode POL EXL (ok not the greatest of results but still against better quality riders).

Sunds I don't think is committed to DK where Hans is so one would assume not so many poss fixture clashes.

Hans is 38 and maybe just wants as many meeting as poss as in twilight of his career (although still a decent rider as his GSA shows). Sund is 27 and may still have improvement in him. He MAY also be a cheaper option than Hans ??

Maybe some of the factors Matt Ford took into account, but again I am just guessing what may have been the reasons.

Considering this is a Poole thread, and I am writing about Poole, my post and opinion is completely valid. If you don’t like it don’t read the Poole thread!

How is it valid?  You have two riders over 8 in your starting lineup - that isn’t valid

Jesus christ this thread is something else.

Sundstrom was a near 8 pointer when riding in this league a few years ago, hes got better as a rider and the league has been watered down hugely.

i am no fan of Poole and to be honest most of their fans annoy the hell out of me but if they round this team off with Sundstrom and Shanes, it really does look head and shoulders above any of the rest.

Kurtz is a young improving star of the future, Holder at worst will hold his average, Josh G averaged 7 riding at number one last season and starts as a third heatleader, Sundstrom is a quality rider who can ride all tracks big or small, Woryna is a hot prospect who will surely make a mockery of his average, the other Pole is the stand out reserve in the league and Shanes is improving and has a year under his belt plus has secured more meetings for 2018.

sorry but if any other team announced this line up nearly every fan on here would be saying how good it looks.

given the rules and averages etc, it is the stand out side. Thats assuming Shanes and Sundstrom sign but it looks so good that even if they dont, they will still take some stopping.
