Chris Holder ! :- Friend Or Foe

Recommended Posts

Call me sceptical, even thick may be, but i didn't think of Chris Holder as anything other than a genuine person. Over the years, I have witnessed his highs and lows, where he usually portrayed everything on his sleeve. Never one to hide his emotions, to me he was someone whom I had the utmost of respect. Over the past few of years he has had to overcome a devastating accident at Coventry, seen his closest friend critically injured, and on top of that, having family turmoil that has separated him from his son.. When you add to this, his parent club didn't want him, It is little wonder his head is all over the place.

Like everyone else, I was amazed at his attitude last week, when refusing to ride, and hopefully when he makes his statement next week he'll realise the judgement he portrayed was wrong. If he's prepared to come back and fight for the cause, I for one would welcome him with open arms on the condition that the issues from last week are never seen again...

If he's not prepared to do that, then he can go and ...................elf

The only misjudgement he made was to not go to the tapes and have an ef, instead he stuck his ground and stayed put in the pits, would the few angry fans have felt the same if he'd have had that ef after racing in 11, probably not, would Buster, probably not. Funny old game.....

If (as indicated by some) he wanted the meeting called off, he pretty much had to make a stand, anyone can ride round at the back, have an EF or tapes exclusion but he didn't use his noggin and now he (deservedly) has to pay.

It is no wonder that his emotions are here there and everywhere, I agree with and accept that. But to race speedway safely you have to get beyond those problems ( put them to one side ) at least for the duration of a meeting. It would seem likely that those problems and how they were still pressing on him, pushed to one side his self control. In which case , like you I would welcome him back - not quite with open arms but at least calmly with his personal guarantee that such a thing will never arise again. Nor will he incite others because I am still unsure as to how much "damage" was done to the younger riders who might still feel that Holder had point. Hopefully his ban should have made it very clear to them ( however much like him him personally ) that he was very out of order.

With a bit more nous as Trees suggested he could have had an EF or ridden round at the back racing-ish. His OTT actions were clearly designed to get the meeting called off and that is what still concerns me. If he is entirely unrepentant in his statement I think he should not expect to return to race in the UK.

Yes in hindsight he should have come out, had an e/f in one then a slide off like Batch and damaged his thumbnail!! Think how much better his average would be? :D:D

Would this mean you would come back and support the Stars.Even though we would still have Batchelor and Holder in the team.

I was more disappointed by the way the fans were treated by the promoter, rather than the riders. I don't condone what the riders did, but I feel with better communication and leadership from the promotions, that situation could and should have been avoided..

I'm hoping to read in the media that JC is back on board, then we will be cooking on gas.,,

This is a quote from you,it really seemed to me you was pi#sed of with those two riders. This is why i asked if you was coming back to support the Stars.

Buster has to do more than apologise, he needs to make an example of those riders who last night brought our sport into disrespect...

From what I witnessed last Chris Holder and Troy Batchelor should never be allowed to ride for the Stars again. Whilst Batch has an excuse because he fell off and probably hurt his wrist, I am in no doubt he will be guesting for Swindon tomorrow at Belle Vue, so the injury wasn't that bad. Bearing in mind the dire situation the team was in, he was changed and gone with not a care in the world. Holder on the other hand was as brazen as you like having a laugh with Middlo in the pits, while his fellow team mates were trying to resurrect some pride from the proceedings....

For both of them should be issued with 28 day suspension for withholding their services. This will stop them riding elsewhere and hopefully stop them from being the Prima Dona's they are. Ok, so what if we lose their presence in the team. I would much rather lose with integrity than allow them to dictate if and when they ride. Winning don't mean anything if its not done correctly.

Any respect I had for either went last night. They can both go to Hell, before I pay to watch either again....

If he is sacked you can only use him if you get a illness/injury and the riders ave is 7.16 or more. Not impossible :nono:

Otherwise not this year

Being serious. You just know something is going to happen.

C. Holder apparently sacked according to a member of this forum

C. Holder apparently un-followed KL on twitter according to another member on this forum

C. Holder will have his say regarding something involving around KL after Cardiff.

How do you think that will work?

Chris is banned till 12th August and the transfer window shuts July 31st.

Someone will get injured or something. You just know it.
