Chris Holder ! :- Friend Or Foe

Recommended Posts

IMO the Polish clubs enforcement is the same thing as SGP vs SEC where SGP/BSI wanted to ban SGP riders from also riding in the SEC.

However in the end the ban never happened because it was a restraint of trade which broke the EU laws, BSI/One Sport then came to an
agreement that One Sport wouldn't give wild cards to season permanent SGP riders.

Sorry, this is illegal, against the law, not enforcable in a court of law. The Poles are breaking EU law and no one has the balls to stop them.

So if I hire a builder to build me a house. I tell the builder that I will pay him 5 times his usual hourly rate but a condition of awarding him the contract is that he will work no more than 10 hours a week elsewhere until the job is done. In your view that is an unreasonable restraint of trade?

My work contract has an exclusivity clause. Most do.

Exactly. And I'd suggest the chances of you getting injured and therefore unavailable for work as a result of taking additional work elsewhere is somewhat lower than that of a speedway rider.

Well I'm glad you think what the Poles are doing is fair, equitable and legal.

It consigns the rest of Europe to the second division.

Maybe Craig Cook can sign for Swindon and Poole next week too to supplement his earnings?

And Wayne Rooney is going to play for Leicester and Oldham too this season.

I really don't see the issue with sports teams making sure that their signed riders are available to them at all times.

Silly comparisons and you know it. Riders riding for different leagues in different countries is an established principle. I remember Joe Screen doing 80 meetings in a season and no one had an issue with that. Riding for Torun and Belle Vue are not incompatible activities. Claiming priority is one thing. Claiming exclusivity is quite another.

But if you don't have an issue with riders, many riders becoming unavailable to any British club then rest easy.

None of the he said, he didn't say matters because Holder has a 28 day ban and now the Rye House fixture has been postponed he has missed one less KL match. He won't be sacked and fans will have the choice of watching him or not, by voting with their feet. That is how it should be. Buster is content with that as a way of running his speedway business. The end result of that is yet to be seen.

I think you are asking the wrong question.

The question should be would Holder, Batchelor et al have got away with their antics of last Thursday in Poland.

Answers on a postcard :P

They would not have dared try it

Ah right, I will listen to your comments rather than an ex-world champion lol

You're talking utter bo**cks and are obviously deeply in love with Chris Holder............. whom I hope NEVER rides at KL again (shame really because I always thought he was a decent guy and a professional racer ......... apparently he's neither).

I think he is a decent bloke, but he's getting beaten in that respect by his own demons. The ban is correct and who knows who he will ride for in the future. I'd imagine that promoters will be very wary at the moment though (not withstanding the ban).

I am one that does not want him back at Poole as for the simple reason his attitude stinks my estimation of him this last few seasons has gone down, all he did at Poole was whinge and I believe he doesn't take the UK seriously enough and the stunt he pulled at KL was a disgrace and I felt sorry for the fans was a typical aussie toys out the pram because he didn't fancy the track, despite others just getting on with it.

Not sure whether Holder could ride for any other team at the end of his ban. thought all transfers were banned sometime soon.Or will his ban be ended before this happens.

He can't. He is banned for 28 days and the transfer window shuts end of July.

His ban ends in 3 weeks.

Call me sceptical, even thick may be, but i didn't think of Chris Holder as anything other than a genuine person. Over the years, I have witnessed his highs and lows, where he usually portrayed everything on his sleeve. Never one to hide his emotions, to me he was someone whom I had the utmost of respect. Over the past few of years he has had to overcome a devastating accident at Coventry, seen his closest friend critically injured, and on top of that, having family turmoil that has separated him from his son.. When you add to this, his parent club didn't want him, It is little wonder his head is all over the place.

Like everyone else, I was amazed at his attitude last week, when refusing to ride, and hopefully when he makes his statement next week he'll realise the judgement he portrayed was wrong. If he's prepared to come back and fight for the cause, I for one would welcome him with open arms on the condition that the issues from last week are never seen again...

If he's not prepared to do that, then he can go and ...................elf
