Fromafar
Everything is very "matter of factly" with Speedway Promotions these days,we're just stopping after 10 Hts or 12 Hts or 14 Hts that's it ,or stand about waiting for Ambulances to turn and curtailed meetings.Fans have just to go home and come back next week and stump up.Its going to come back and bite them on the bum IMO . Bandit59
Why not. Far better to do that, than leave it for another 2 weeks and then pull it back. as they do after every meeting Was being sarcastic could they not have done that after heat 14 and tried to get heat 15 on
Tsunami
Was being sarcastic could they not have done that after heat 14 and tried to get heat 15 on But surely that would have been one of, if not the most, obvious decision they could have come to. The fact they didn't doesn't make the cancellation of heat 15 wrong, or the usual dragging back of the dirt to settle and lie fallow to settle for the following week. You can't just pull it back and ride on it, unless you say tyre pack and slightly grade it. It all takes time and on a cold night how many would they have performed to. After heat 10 Glasgow were always in front , so could not ask for the meeting to be stopped . Berwick were obviously happy to continue and after their 4-2 in heat 14 which brought the sides level , a shake of the hands suited everyone , apart from some of the fans and of course the braindead few who love to blame and in their twisted little world , it was all Glasgow's fault - as some numptie posted on the speedway updates site claiming he'd received a text telling him that

People like to give their opinions on what they think is a rideable track, when riders themselves say it isn't. People like to think they know how to prepare a track when there are only a very few who actually can. It's all part of the increasing our value of self worth. Pity heat 15 never took place, it could have rounded off a great meeting. As is usually the case when Glasgow are down it was full of incident and fine racing. Lioness
I get what you are saying Paul but surely that adds weight to the argument someone posted a day or two back that speedway is in danger of being viewed in the same way as wrestling as the result/outcome is being manipulated by team managers (or should we start calling them producers?) rather than 100% by the men on the bikes. Only in exceptional circumstances , and both sets of riders obviously thought it was getting too greasy .
screm
If either team were losing going into Ht15 you can bet they would want to continue, or at least you`d like to think they would. Any long lasting damage the events of Saturday night caused probably wont be felt until we get to the visit of Sheffield. No meeting this Saturday, attractive opposition should mean a reasonably decent crowd but there were plenty who said they wouldn't be coming back, the club must be hoping they were just angry last Saturday and will return. Lioness
Only in exceptional circumstances , and both sets of riders obviously thought it was getting too greasy . But you've already implied they only thought that as it suited them score wise - that's manipulation a la wrestling Hopefully screm the damage will be minimal. If there is a 'best' time for this sort of shenanigans with limited damage its just before the British GP as it tends to buoy up supporters. Let's hope so anyway
baba
From a drivers point of view and many of us if not all drive. When conditions are bad and there is a chance of losing control and crashing how many of us do it? Spectators view the track from behind a fence but the riders walk on it and feel it under their feet so they know if its raceable. Team managers worry about injuries, ref's have responsibility for riders. Spectators want 15 heats regardless but wouldn't or shouldn't want to witness riders going through the motions or crashing in final heat. In heat 15 at a level score these guys want to ride like their life depends on it and feel safe doing so...thats all.
