allthegearbutnaeidea
riders safety has to be paramount, it would of been good to watch but no one wants to see a rider get injured.
diamond@heart
I'm afraid the sporting world - and sports journalists - doesn't even notice speedway. How very true you are, which is a shame.

As per this from thegreatcoursesdaily.com...................... Generally, the format would be to have 12 chariots racing in teams. There were four teams, often called factions, which were identified by their colors: blue, green, red, and white. The fans followed the team color more than they followed the individual drivers or horses, similar to modern sports. If you had 12 chariots racing, that would mean you would have three chariots from each team that would be fielded for a typical race. The chariots would break out of the starting gates at the one end. In the Circus Maximus, there were 12 starting gates, and the chariots would come out with the drivers wrapped up in leather and with their team colors on. They would do the circuit of the circus seven times, seven laps being required to complete the race. The most popular seats were at the curved end of the bullet shape of the arena, since that is where most of the crashes took place. The slang for a chariot crash in Roman times was a “shipwreck.” They liked to watch the shipwrecks, tangled masses of horses and drivers and wood, that would career off the corner. Of course, rules were pretty much minimal. You could whip and lash your opponents and try to pull them out of their chariots if that is what you wished. These were violent spectacles, not just spectacles of skill and entertainment.

Paulco
There is a brilliantly-written blog about this catastrophe by George Dodds in "The Dirt" section of the Berwick club website. At least it's been resolved , well so far . Never ceases to amaze me the lack of thought given to some of the BSPA's decisions .
topsoil
At least it's been resolved , well so far . Never ceases to amaze me the lack of thought given to some of the BSPA's decisions . I often wonder if there was any communication between the committee before decisions were made. Five riders in a race was an obvious non-starter, riders in the World Cup hated it years ago. Now bikes are faster and more temperamental, what gave the committee the idea that anything was going to have changed? Then to exclude two teams, surely somebody would have realised this was a PR disaster after originally inviting all ten teams. The best thing that can be said is common sense has prevailed. Hopefully better weather than the Pairs, or at least the track is covered properly if it rains beforehand.

If rain is forecast they will no doubt cover the straights instead of the bends to see if that can save the meeting. The BSPA and their ineptitude is quite honestly beyond belief
Arson fire
We as fans should vote with our feet against these clowns.🤡 They have us over a barrell in every aspect and in every decision they make at the asylum.
jenga
The bottom line is that every club is now involved, no fan is left out. This tournament is for the many, not the few. Don't they have 6 riders in the Czech Republic in the Golden Helmet? you wont be praising this idea when any of your riders are lost for the season due to first bend bunching . anyhow , you wont be there , you will be down at halfords getting a puncture outfit for your lass . BREAKING NEWS : After much negotiation the fours are been shown live next Sunday on the Comedy channel can you get comedy channel on bt . oh sorry , its already on . Get the date and format agreed when the major events are announced. Why not communicate with the clubs and riders first before announcing it to the fans it so that it's not a surprise to the former? The social media backlash is a fact of life these days, rightly or wrongly. It's the lack of smart organisation and effective timely communications from the governing body that's the problem

Lol, it says under events on the BSPA site that the meeting format will follow. Your guess is as good as mine when that will be, bearing in mind it's just 8 days away. I was sent a PM from a fellow forum member asking for the meeting format, hopefully someone out there might have an idea though as you say if the people running the actual meeting have only just worked out the teams involved don`t know yet what chance a supporter. False dawn
Just enough time for a competition before the first print run. Best suggestion gets free family entry (or equivalent) and free parking inside the stadium: e-mail no.idea@bspa.co.uk So let's see. Each semi final is over 10 heats i.e. 40 rides. Each semi contains 5 teams. So each team gets 8 rides. Assuming each team is 4 riders (plus maybe a reserve) then each rider gets 2 rides. Now all we have to do is work out a fair race formula. Maybe that's what took all night. P.S. my email to no.idea@bspa.co.uk bounced!
Panthers89
P.S. my email to no.idea@bspa.co.uk bounced! Phew..... that's a relief as someone in the BSPA headquarters was getting cold sweats thinking someone was questioning something....... Crump99
P.S. my email to no.idea@bspa.co.uk bounced! Sorry about that, I should have updated that the e-mail account had been deleted. Apparently a staff member's 5 year old was in the office yesterday and sorted out the format for them. BBSC
BSPA have apologised for lateness of race format for the Hokey Cokey 4's this Sunday. They forgot to take into consideration that the schools were on holiday, but after lots of emails and frantic phone-calls and the promise of a KFC family bucket, they have managed to get in touch with little Lucy from year 3 who has agreed to sort it out when she returns home from ice skating.
