Scunthorpe V Newcastle Championship Friday 7th July 2017

Recommended Posts

With Rob threatening a change in the Star; last nights 28 point reverse at Ippo will have only convinced him further. I still stick to it that this team is better than its results have shown; but we are right out of the key ingredient - confidence. That's a must in speedway; loose that and its hard work.

We do need to come up with a show tonight; but with Richie in for Diamonds and Kyle Howarth extending his "EWR Track Residency" we could be in 'balls up' territory again ? (though hoping not; obviously). Howarth is quality around Scunny and its is beginning to look more and more like a top artist 'Vegas Residency' the number of times he's rocked up at the EWR this season !. Book him permanent I would.

The Change ? - well what can we do to change this and bring a smile to faces and get some mojo into us for what remains of this difficult campaign ?. Tell what I would do ?...Have a look at one of the US World Cup team that's what - Gino Manzeres is desperate for a Premier or Championship club and he would definitely liven up the show. Entertaining ;bit of a US poster boy and real have a go racer on 6.02 when he last rode over here for Ippo - that might come down a touch ?.

Come Eileen give Gino a call !

As far as I can see, the problem is at the bottom end - specifically the big scoring reserve.

The way Scunny's team was built there was a significant reliance upon the senior reserve beating not just the oppositions reserves but also their second strings and the occasional heat leader. Rob Godfrey admitted that was how it was supposed to work due to the relative weakness of their top 5.

Against Redcar, Carl Wilkinson had great difficulty even beating the Bears reserves and that was a major factor in a big defeat.

Rob has always given honest assessments & views which are not everybody's cup of tea. It shows, just in this last couple of weeks, how hard it is to be a promoter as in his notes of the last programme that we were still waiting on Stefan but Fritz is ready to come back. But he needs a strong reserve at no6, whether Nielsen, Aarnio, Wilko or others, he does not need another gamble.

In the Star, he states we might need another change. In the telegraph, he states Gino has no gear ready for racing(not sure what or whose gear he is using at the World Cup)

Last Sunday & now last nights results have really kicked us when we are already down. I expected more from ex witches Kerr & Wilko but it's not happening & I fear, as someone has posted, there could be a first win for Newcastle at the EWR.as Howarth will get a max or close to it as he's been an excellent guest for opponents (but not for us) & Richie could score well. I just hope the others have a poor night & we get the points but don't leave it to a last heat decider.

If I was an Ippo fan being a neutral & being in this part of the country, I would be checking the weather forcast as the sun is out & around 22C but cooling off later to 20C. Better off with a barbeque & a few beers later, then.:approve: ......... :drink::drink::t::t::rofl::rofl:

There's an answer to that; Get Him Some ! surely we could sort that out at a push ?

heard it, read it somewhere, but they didn't come out together.

I see, well according to Wikipedia, the source of everything 100% correct, they at least come out on the same day, poor woman didn't have to wait over 24 hours for super Stevie...

I've always liked American riders, so I'd love to see Gino in the CL, probably wouldn't like to see him for Scunthorpe but oh well... I'd love to see more of the Americans over here, but they're probably not good enough yet for the CL and they're not allowed to ride in the NL, there should be an "intercontinental league" like the 4 team tournaments that are going on at Kent for example... Then Luke Becker, Dillon Ruml etc... can ride over here on a more regular basis... Along with aussies like Jaimon Lindsey and Brody Eves and Scandinavians like Glenn Moi..... I think yous get my point :P

Not to mention the Spiller brothers...

It might be expensive to set up an ENTIRE league, so why not let the Americans put in a team in the MDL/SDL for example, they let the Welsh in with Carmarthen ;):P

well one has been known as 'the older twin', (amongst other things),,, even tho maybe only 30 minutes or so between births, it at least gave mammy Worrall a chance to watch an episode of countdown or something.

yes,,, and maybe a couple of hob-nobs, chocolate or plain ???

and I didn't say I heard it from Roy, but I do understand that for some, 'listening and processing' doesn't come naturally ;)

If Wilkinson doesn't win the reserve race or at least finish 2nd behind Bailey he deserves sacking on the spot

now that would make Peetabra look like nice employers ;)

We thought would be the case last night at Foxhall nice easy heat 2 for him , didn't really go to plan last night for him .

Bit harsh Fozzie; Wilko's done his bit for the Scorpions overtime. He definitely deserves our respect; in fact that's a given for every single rider that puts himself out there !. I know if you in it; then that makes you fair game for the criticism and all that - same in every sport. But sacked on the spot ? - never and I am sure Rob would not do that. There might be a conversation to be had; and lets be honest not just with Wilko; but that's for the management to have in a proper respectful manner.

You should listen to Roy. You might learn a thing or two

Probably would, but then again, I'd rather not listen to the sh!t he has to say... No offence to him but he's a pain in the ass... I'd rather find out myself, hence why I ask here

Well, generally he's the one who screams out their names before every race, so maybe you'd heard it from him? I dunno...

Yep, a bit harsh, I think Scunthorpe's problems run deeper than Wilkinson... So he's not all to blame, plus he's ridden at Scunthorpe for years, a bit disrespectful just to throw him away like that...

Calling him a pain in the ass is being offensive. He adds greatly to the entertainment of the meeting

For some maybe, but for others, he takes away from the entertainment, but I guess it's just personal opinion
