Too Many Non-league Meetings

Recommended Posts

Tonight's farcical 'Glasgow v Glasgow' league match at Newcastle sums the problem up perfectly.

The fans want to see the seven signed-up team riders of their local side racing for their team on the scheduled fixture dates...... not away on World Cup, European over or under 21s matches, qualifiers, finals, long track, short track, clockwise track, doubling up or doubling down, GB league individuals, pairs, threes, fours, fives or whatever else our governing body dream up to provide one-off income for track owners or the governing body itself.

I appreciate that the top riders probably appreciate the additional income and kudos associated with a title but they should not forget that the bedrock of speedway in Britain are the various leagues and the loyal fans who support these meetings.

I fear there are plenty fans out there considering turning there back on the sport next season.

I am so dis-illusioned with all the rules and make things up as we go along attitude that I will be one off the many who walk away.

What happened to the transparency it has now become a joke sport and blame lies at the door of the BSPA.

We at Glasgow have a bring a friend initiative which has been a roaring success but once new fans fully understand the stupid rules we have on guests, riders riding for different teams etc,etc how long will it take for the novelty to wear off.

The BSPA had a big opportunity to radically transform the sport in the winter but only succeeded in polishing up a turd and it is still a turd , the only way the sport has any chance is removing the governing body with there agendas as unfit for purpose and replace with a no affiliation outside entity.

Speedway is dying a slow death in this country and a simple sport as it should be has become a complete waste off time

........Gazc...................Speedway is dying a slow death in this country and a simple sport as it should be has become a complete waste of time.

I probably shouldn't admit this but I am quite enjoying being a neutral fan this season and I'm not really bothered any more about the demise of my club Coventry. Speedway these days is completely different to how it used to be when you knew which riders were in your team and the race night was on a certain day every week. Now it's anyone's guess who will be riding and it can be 2 or even 3 weeks between meetings. Sadly it's all gone to pot.
