Wessex Wanderer
Ignoring current riders cuz they might still hopefully join someone. I go for: Igor Plechanov Rune Holta Mike Bast Boris Somoradov Jerky Szcackiel With honourable mentions to Edmund Migos Hans Jurgen Fritz A Swede who rode in a WTC Final at White City but whose name I can't remember Gennady Kurilenko A Gordeev brother - I never knew which one I was watching so don't know which one. Almost certainly missed out some.

steve roberts
Sorry my mistake Steve 1974 was the Swedish ban wasnt it? Samuelsson and Holmqvist were two swedes who were both underated.Myself i hated Bob riding for Oxford so glad he came back home where he belonged was one of my favourites. As for Oxford my favourites had to be Genz, Dag, and Middleton and throw in Rick Timmo as well. Conny Samuelsson...there was an enigma! Put in superlative performances at both Coventry and Swindon (?) but just couldn't master Cowley. Surprised he wasn't given another chance but perhaps his heart was in Ice Racing in which he excelled! (Fred)Rick Timmo married Tom Pricket's (Oxford Start Marshall) daughter during his time at Oxford...hence why Spencer is British born. iris123
I'd also add a couple of the early US riders. Jake de Rosier and Eddie Brinck and I thought one of the best early Australians never came over....
Tracy Bird
The swede that rode at the world team cup final was lars ake Andersson. I would put jack white who rode against English test teams in Australia in the late 60s, far as I remember never rode over here and Laurie hodgson who was coming over here but had a bad crash and was wheelchair bound

The Mike Bast view on speedway in Britain (from his AMA profile): By the early 1970s, several U.S. riders, such as Scott Autrey and Dewayne Keeter, were leaving America to race Speedway in the British League, to qualify to contest the World Finals. Bast went to England to check it out. “It was cold, miserable, the food was bad and there was no money,” he said. “I was making 50 to 60 thousand a year in America living at the beach." chunky
Andersson rode for Glasgow in 1968 I believe. That was Lars Jansson. I think you will find. I am positive Lars-Ake Andersson never rode in the UK. My top five would be Igor Plechanov Boris Samorodov Rune Holta Andrzej Wyglenda Art Pechar (although he rode in the UK, I am sure he never rode league) Honourable mentions for Lubos Tomicek Sr, Valeri Klementiev, Timo Laine... Steve An interesting list chunky and I was impressed to notice in the 'honourable mentions' the name of Timo Laine (Finland). I saw him riding in Holland in the 1950s and he was a very good, proficient rider. Sadly, he is a name virtually unknown to British supporters.
