scottyfan
Yes but Poole will have a better team by then. So who are they going to bring in?? Kasprzak didn't look any better in the Euro championship on Friday....constantly looking for the other riders and seemed slow too.
A ORLOV
That may be the case but on current form, it looks like a BV vs Wolves final. The other 2 teams will be cannon fodder. Lets see how the Robins do against BV next week, we beat Wolves last week and if Rosco can either get Dany going or make a team change it is not too late to climb the table. I am waiting to see where we are by the end of July.
ReadingRacer2017
Swindon will take 4th place.

He got 10 points in the SEC so i don't think that's too bad and a league meeting should be easier than the SEC. We could get a decent replacement for Klindt maybe Madsen. CookieIpswich
The league is far too long winded to create any sort of excitement or buzz, because someone said play offs are more or less decided already. So those guaranteed a play off place might see X amount of fans not showing up and will wait for the play offs, those you have nothing to fight for will lose fans 28 league meetings is far too long

Nothing is decided yet. Top spot is important so you can choose your opponent and 4th place is certainly still up for grabs.
keef robin
Wont be decided until early Sept. If Swindon win all their 5 home matches in 14 days can scrape into top 4. Belle Vue and Wolves look certs, Poole, Lynn, Swindon for other 2 spots. Edited July 3, 2017 by beefy keefy

foreverblue
Although you twice posted that nothing is decided I still think two of the top four are decided. It's a pity more fans don't share your opinion about the importance of top spot to get them to go to speedway a bit more. We all know the table doesn't lie and the worst team finishes bottom and the best team finishes top, so I suppose it is important in that respect but when a team came to my track looking for an away win which would have meant them being top of the top league for the first time in their history (just consider that for a moment, it wasn't like Belle Vue finishing top for the umpteenth time, it was the first time IN THEIR HISTORY!) I saw two, maybe three away fans. In other years when the top meant champions the track was awash with away fans in similar circumstances. I remember being baffled but you explained that the fans were saving their money for the play offs! I'd not considered that attendances for the league would be hit in such a way, particularly for such an 'important' meeting but it does at least partly explain one reason at least why attendances have dropped despite the introduction of the brilliant qualifier and cup concept. I agree it would appear the top two are decided but not who actually finishes top which is important and they can decide who they play and maybe more importantly that they can be at home for the 2nd leg. we all know your opinion on the play offs but a big part of what I like about the play off system which you didn't get in the past was the all out racing that the play offs provide. I believe in more recent years the passion for the play offs has dwindled and you do not get quite as big crowds these days in the play offs but they are still the best attended meetings. Obviously they do have a detrimental affect on normal league meetings especially for those teams near the bottom but personally I believe the best racing is provided by the play offs and long may they continue. Crowds have dwindled full stop not just for the play offs. People are fed up with the start/stop seasons, the constant changes of rules, the lack of continuity, the cost, the length of time it takes to run a meeting, the same music every week, teams shafting each other to gain an advantage Its not enjoyable anymore. Its a habit for most people, nothing more. This all takes place in a stadium, with the exception of Belle Vue, that you'd be embarrassed to stand in if you weren't a speedway fan.
foreverblue
I like to think my opinion is based on the negative affect the qualifier and cup format has on overall attendances. The absence of published attendances makes it awkward to back up although the effect is perfectly illustrated in the Swedish attendance figures someone posted last year. I agree the actual final is usually a good meeting although it isn't unusual for it to be spoilt by bad weather but I've been to plenty of crucial meetings with racing just as good. When sky didn't miss the title decider before they brought in the qualifier and cup format there were some brilliant deciders but this is my favourite from what's available on YouTube. I doubt you can ever replicate what happened that night. We had to win the meeting, there was no 20 point advantage from the first leg. The odds were stacked against us and the arrogance of the home fans before the meeting and even up to around heat 8 was bordering on obnoxious, well no it was obnoxious. Our season had been devastated by injuries but we had a 'squad' of real fighters and we still had a chance and we could see it unfolding in front of our eyes and the look on the home fans faces was a sight to behold. I happen to think the quality of the venue plays a massive part but when I mentioned it someone said I was wrong because people are happy to stand in a field at a music festival or watch F1 stood on a grassy bank. We have got tracks in fields with grassy banks and it doesn't seem to be working but hey ho, never mind. The racing looks pretty good considering it was at what you call the horror track!
foreverblue
I agree saddlebow Road was fantastic 20 years ago and Buster seemed to be a master at track prep, don't know what went wrong, the world cup was great for us but the racing wasn't great. The track has gone down in class that it is true. However i dont really know what people were expecting in the meeting. Even if this was at the NSS im sure there wouldnt have been much passing, but the racing may have been faster and more spaced out. 9/10 times the Brits and Aussies were at the front and the other 2 sides cut adrift......that would have happened at any track and there wouldnt have been much passing
bellevueace
Its going to be similar in the football world cup when they increase the teams, more third rate countries will mean more one sided matches, same in any sport.
