Guest
Here's a rider 'knocking at the door' for inclusion: Wilbur Lamoraeux. He rode pre- and post-war in the UK for Wimbledon, Wembley and Birmingham. Edited June 23, 2017 by Guest
steve roberts
Very different to the other thread as the era under discussion here covers riders who competed pre-war right up to the present date. I would, therefore, find it difficult naming a top five based upon the years involved and especially difficult considering that the sport was very different pre-war but here goes... 1. Sprouts Elder 2. Jack Milne 3. Cordy Milne 4. Scott Autrey 5. Bruce Penhall But then again...?

The White Knight
No Penhall!?! I thought long and hard about that. I allowed my prejudice against him to rule my head. I still do. So, the answer to your question is No!! No Penhall.

The White Knight
is that due to the white City incident? If it is, is there a reason you don't feel similarly to ermolenko and Hancock? No, actually it isn't. Though I admit that I didn't like that either. I didn't like the way that he ended his Career. I was disgusted with him then and am disgusted with him now. Or bowing out on home soil as double world chsmpion, to pursue a career in Hollywood rather than Dudley Wood?

Or bowing out on home soil as double world chsmpion, to pursue a career in Hollywood rather than Dudley Wood? Thing is, there have been many other riders who have retired mid-season - for a number of reasons. Okay, he was a high-profile character, but it is a rider's right to retire... Guest
There is an article in and American publication in which the author deviates away from the threads request by naming 10 top American riders. It is an interesting item. The writer names these riders: Kelly Moran Bobby Schwartz Sprouts Elder Jack Milne Shawn Moran Sam Ermolenko Billy Hamill Mike Bast Bruce Penhall Greg Hancock Go to this Link for the article: http://www.dirtbikes.com/top-10-american-speedway-riders-time/ Edited June 24, 2017 by Guest
