Glasgow V Ipswich Ch - Saturday 24 June 7pm

Would love to know how many people were in last night and what the official capacity is. I know this is a mad thing to say but I don't think I'd feel comfortable in a stadium so full every week. As paulco says it was full to the brim and I don't see how they could get anymore in unless they stood behind the fence on the bends where they wouldn't be able to see much. Thank goodness they put in new terracing on the 4th bend and back straight!

 

Well got an answer on official web site 1100 paid and 840 newbies got in for nothing.

Why don't the grade during the interval??

 

After heat 10 is the interval. if the weather allows they have a kids race, there were 100s on Saturday taking part and then NORMALLY a few laps of grading. Every now and again they just seem to get a bit carried away.

TBH I think it's the guy that drives the tractor..... I see them trying to flag him down and he pretends he's not seen them and batters round for another lap. A bit like kids when the called your number down the boating pond.

I've been watching and it's not the guy in the tractor. It's generally Stewart that's instructing how many laps. Keep an eye on the guy at the pit gate entrance as he holds his fingers up to confirm how many more laps are needed. I've seen the guy driving the tractor shaking his head when being told and also one of the Facenna's wasn't happy about it on Sat night!

 

I know we need grading but the grading after heat 10 was excessive to say the least and I didn't see it making a big difference to the track but agree it gives the opposition time to adjust things!

I think the Scotsman's comment may be factually accurate, the issue is whether it is appropriate in this scenario?? ;)

to be fair I had no problem with your post in isolation but when northyorksbear commented felt I had to point out that wasn't happening, wouldn't want anyone getting the wrong idea due to someone misinterpreting your perfectly reasonable post :o .

Our next match is against Sheffield expecting you to be posting your drivel that's me being polite when the thread opens. Thought Gavan was bad on Poole but you are worse.Trying to work out what Glasgow has done to you and came to the answer you were dumped by Glasgow as a rider and never forgiven them.

Regarding the ht10 break it might be prudent to use the 2 minute clock to let fans know how long the break will be just as they do at the ice hockey. It should no longer than 15 minutes IMO including the kids race and grading.

has anyone mentioned that after the long drawn out grading that we actually got some decent racing. i cant recall a single pass in the first 11 heats but 12 to 15 were so much better. Glasgow are rightly being congratulated for doing so much right for speedway.......but i cant pay £20 to watch FTG Speedway every week. its not good entertainment just now.

Interesting assessment. I actually enjoyed the match up to heat 10 and even the kids race. But the atmosphere changed, the crowd were getting bored and you got the feeling the Tigers are going to blow it. I also don't think you can just assume that the grading was responsible for what you think was better racing. The way the heats work out you have riders of similar abilities in the last few heats which can result in closer racing. Also Ipswich had more time to adjust setup.

Slightly of topic but good article on BBC Scotland radio news programme regarding their promotion of " bring a friend" .They had roughly 1100 regulars and 750+ freebies according to Faccenna.His one blunder was he said there was 3 riders in a race 2 from each side!!! Good plug for the Speedway though.They are certainly promoting the club as hard as they can.

He did quote the exact figures probably the ones you quote,butI couldn't remember them offhand.
