Gazc
Track grading did us no favours again, stopped any momentum and they packed it down that much it seemed to suit Ipswich far more than prior to that. You would have thought after last season they would have learned , they even admitted themselves that they got it wrong and it wont hapoen again. After last night it apoears they forgot or are unable to get things right frustrating is an understatement. Question to Ippo fans that see him far more than me, what has happened to Justin Sedgemen he looked like a junior in some heats not the rider i remember whilst with Edinburgh. But Ipswich fought back well mainly thanks to the Glasgow teack crew in preparing the track to suit there needs.
Baldyman
Don't mention sedgmen, I don't rate him, I don't want him. He must be doing a wolbert. Some other will say he is doing a good job though.

He just didn't seem interested last night , apart from heat 14 where he gated , then got passed by both Glasgow riders , then at least had a go to regain second which he managed to do ....just . But his first three races he was ordinary .
IronScorpion
Not interested or confidence dropped a bit, similar to Josh Auty. He was dropped at Leicester for Bjerre because of availability issues(riding Saturday & we had several away meetings on same nights) & Sedgy dropped by B/Vue. Both riders have, basically, done nothing wrong. Form was good & scoring the required points of a second string rider.
Baldyman
I've seen him give up after one corner a couple of times this season. His average is going down. I guess it doesn't help he is replacing a rider that does never give up and is an out and out racer. Justin is meant to be a good gater, ain't really seem much of that so far either. Its not my club, so it's not my choice of the riders the club employ, and I guess they are more than happy with him. He was signed on an average that at the time made him third heat leader, not a second string Edited June 25, 2017 by baldyman
SharpenRake
Was so nice to be in a speedway stadium full to the brim with supporters last night . I took my eldest daughter , son in law and kids last night , and she hadn't been to speedway since I would take her to Shawfield as a teenager . I could tell she loved it again , so I hope this has rekindled her interest . I was like a sardine texting to the updates site as the Charlie Monk stand was packed , the stand filled up early , and the 4th bend covered terrace looked even busier than what it usually is when the Monarchs come calling . The owners are doing their best to try and promote the club and the sport , and last night's crowd must have been close to 2000 . Yes we know that was down to the new supporters scheme , but as a family night out for anybody new to the sport , it was a great success . Would love to know how many people were in last night and what the official capacity is. I know this is a mad thing to say but I don't think I'd feel comfortable in a stadium so full every week. As paulco says it was full to the brim and I don't see how they could get anymore in unless they stood behind the fence on the bends where they wouldn't be able to see much. Thank goodness they put in new terracing on the 4th bend and back straight!
Baldyman
Sounds like you need a bigger stadium, isn't it brilliant that you couldn't get box more in. every club would love that, well done Glasgow management owners and supporters. scotchopper
Justin Wolbert was pretty poor on a track he's ridden many times. Not a chance did he get second from Perry in ht14, it wasnt even close going over the line. Food for thought for Glasgow that after an extensive regrade at ht10 the visiting team came right back it having not won a heat or looked like they were capable of one and having spent their tactical up to that point. Ipswich then won three of the last five heats. Seen Justin many times at ashfield and he was never that great there, he has a couple of tracks that he can't get his head around, Workington is another. I'm sure the 2015 grand final he was awful in the 1st leg but was then the match winner in the home leg with a maximum. Paid 8 is not a great score but it is also not terrible on a track he dislikes. He is a very good second string who can throw in some no1 type performances and a couple of poor ones too. Mike hunter describes him as one of the best gaters he has ever seen and I don't disagree but is a confidence rider who you have to keep happy. In a week where has been unfairly dropped by belle Vue I would think he has contributed to a good point for the witches

cyclone
Re the tyre packing of the track, does anyone know if the home riders were consulted on this before it took place? It would be crazy for any home side to regrade a track to suit the visitors more than their own. Quite a few years ago I remember Chris Neath moaning that Armadale was too grippy for them and foolishly all the dirt was scraped off and Rye House revelled so much in the slick conditions that from a losing position, they ended up winning the bl**dy match Edited June 25, 2017 by cyclone

Gavan
I for one as an Ipswich fan are happy enough with Sedgmans scoring.......who else would we get on that average? He has 4 rides in most meetings and has scored: HOME 7+1 9 8 7 11 8 AWAY 4 3 9+1 5+3 Couple of poor showings but nothing drastic. With the form Danny and Rory are in , we only need 2 of Heeps, Sedgy and Newman to be around double figures and we win most meetings. The strength in depth is far better this season then ever before. We dont have that third heat leader as such but 3 guys all capable of doing well

Sedgmens average is going down, both my two would increase there's significantly. That's only my opinion, which doesn't matter anyway, but to me it's the difference from maybe making the play offs and maybe winning title, to favourites to winning it. Its all down to opinions though. Edited June 25, 2017 by baldyman

MANSE
Must have been the Ipswich riders surely 8 wins out of 8 then ask for the track to be changed ?
SharpenRake
The riders asked for the grading given. Must have been the Ipswich riders surely 8 wins out of 8 then ask for the track to be changed ? I assume George is correct but as Manse says we had won every heat, it was 10 out of 10 manse. So yes no problem with some grading but this was lap after lap and half the time the wheel and the grader wasn't being used. the long delay gave Ipswich guys time to adjust there set-ups and more importantly cheesed of a large part of a large crowd. There were lots of newbies on Saturday and they must have wonderd whats going on. Riders have to remember they are there to entertain and if there is no crowd there is no money and no job Edited June 26, 2017 by SharpenRake
