liam
When David Mason and Paul Hurry met in heat 12, as the following quote indicates Mason had the advantage. I don't understand this 'eternal' vendetta against Mason - and for that matter Nick Laurence. No vendetta against Laurence at all but he is never going to get much better than his 3.00 average. I would rather see a young lad given a chance who doesn't come off the throttle half way down the straight.
Guest
Obviously Gustix you are Davids biggest fan even though you do not see him ride ,,through no fault of your own,,and indeed he will do a regular middle order good job for any team with out taking any chances and at his age that is reasonable to expect,,,The problem is most fans find him boring to watch ..He did a perfectly decent stint for Lakeside,,but bringing in Hurry has made the team stronger. with the exception of last night of course....Your support is admirable.and I am glad he is fixed up with Birmingham and hope he has a good safe season there .. Thanks for that admirable comment waco. The days when I was a fan of any rider ceased years ago - but there are many who I have come to know and respect over the years. And they include riders who are recognised as carrying an 'all time greats' labelas well as those who contributed excellent support roles in the sport. Regarding David Mason - who I did see ride in his Rye House days: what I dislike is the continued adverse comments that I see about him. They just do not make sense to me - there are comments made about him, many adverse, but none seem to have a substantive reason for being made? Graham Drury at Birmingham it would appear sees a value in having Mason in the side. Drury sees value in Mason not only riding for Birmingham but of potential value to pass on his experience of the sport to his new team mates. How this will work out in the future has still to be proven. That is up to David Mason to justify the confidence his new club have expressed for him. cityrebel
It was a decent meeting at Perry Barr last night, and so well run. Despite a few re runs it was all finished by 9.10. Speedway heaven!
*JJ
Who was the ref. Flint. He did not have a good meeting! Good performance from Lakeside,,there are a lot of if,s and but,s on here from both sides ,,which, all though i was not there personally appear to cancel one another out,,so probably a fair result... It was ... there was only going to be one winner, but Zach and Morley took heats 13 and 15 to keep it close.
StephenMiller
Enjoyable match with some good racing from both teams. Special mention for the efforts of out guest reserve Taylor Hampshire though - can we please use him again if Roberts is going to be out for a while ? Guest GiveusaB
DITTO!!!! I was 7 years old when he joined us and I'm sad to say that I still have all of my fan club letters ! LOL I had the pleasure of bumping in to him at PB last year and asked for his autograph for old times sake !
stevebrum
If Hurry had scored to his average, Hammers would have won this. Nonsense. Ifs ifs ifs. JPB and Layne didn't score to their average either. It's no good being in scoring positions if you can't stay on the bike. Hurry was the let down for the Hammers, likewise the 2 mentioned Brummies were from a scoring perspective.
