Ommer Mon
One observation in addition. Occasionally slow to update riders positions during races. Also no sign of Chris Louis (bad thing or good??) but was probably there in a different capacity so unable to take part in broadcast. Think I noticed him in the Ref's Box trying to get the result changed!
SCB
Get transponders on the bikes. That would be a good start!but unless you have multiple loops around the track (and who's going to dig up their tracks for that) then it's only ever going to be correct at the end of every lap. But actually think it should be done, just for dodgy starts and close finishes.
Ommer Mon
I think we should all be thankful to BT for picking up the poisoned chalice of covering live speedway. Long delays, last minute rain offs and the sun going down in the wrong direction all conspire to challenge the production crew. It was their first meeting and I think they did a good job. Yes there were teething troubles but that's to be expected. I know that they are keen to make this a success so we need to encourage rather than pick flies. So from me it's a big THANKS BT SPORT! I've got Virgin cable and you have the option to add time when recording live events. Handy for Speedway as outlined earlier!
Hawk127
I thought the presentation was better than Sky. Some comments re the camera work may be valid but I really did not notice the difference. The racing was good but that tends to be the case when it is individual meeting rather than league racing. That to me says it all. Gate and go in league racing and while I accept that the individuals have to earn a living, team riding is a thing of the past and for the seasoned punter league racing has become borefest. Have a level playing field with standard machines and relying on rider skill would sort things out but as it stands, I can only agree with many others who have posted on many other topics, the top two leagues are in decline. The NL will survive because of the level and the never say die attitude of some of the up and coming riders. A shame that this great motor sport has almost reached its nadir. BT sport offer s lifeline but virtually empty stadium for a league meeting is going to do nothing to enhance the viewing figures and improve the numbers at tracks. A gamble yes but for every TV meeting perhaps the promoters should charge £5 per adult and £1 for anyone under 16. Speculate to accumulate and you don't need to charge the earth. Adopt the pricing policy of Ryanair with base cost (entrance) but once in you have a captive audience. Make it attractive enough and the visitor will spend cash on other things. Not all clubs make money on food and drink but offer discounted pre-paid family tickets to future meetings and make it flexible. With football it is often difficult to simply turn up and buy a ticket, make it easy to get into a speedway meeting. Clubs working together so that the family ticket can be used at a number of local tracks. Example, Ipswich, Kings Lynn, Mildenhall, Peterborough and Rye house. Accounting wise it can be sorted and with a little imagination it could work. Hey oh what do I know, followed the sport since the late sixties and nothing will convince me to part with my cash in the way I did in years gone by to get the speedway fix every week. Triple.H.
This is one of the things I picked up on during a heat. But as someone whos job it is to write the software for this kind of thing, I'm struggling to think of a good, resilient way of making this work quickly and correctly. Bearing in mind that the person operating will be a professional graphics operator and not a speedway fan. So they won't be that quick at noticing a position change and what happens when you have two riders battling side by side?! I have some ideas and I'm tempted to knock something up and over lay it during a meeting and see what I can come up with. As someone who works in the industry, I'd be happy with the feedback so far. It's all simple things to change and I think the general feeling is they did a good job. transponders on the bikes linked to receivers around the track ? The problem could be very clearly seen last season at several tracks. DO IT NOW! it may be a 'gamble" but seeing almost no-one bothering to watch in the stadium in a definite turn off. Why would someone be tempted to go to their local track? This is as vital a part of marketing as anything else.

My post was made at work whilst looking and thinking about other things at the same time (not reccomended), but 100% agree with above. Guess I'm relatively lucky in that I get to see most TV matches at parents house and GPs at biker mates' house, who are big fans of Woffy BTW due to his 'lifestyle look'.... The White Knight
Just seen the TV scheduling not a championship match in sight!!! Yes - I noticed that. I think it is a shame really, because there have been some terrific Premier League Meetings on SKY in the past............. I wonder why? Perhaps the so called top League do not want to give any money to the Championship? Just guessing.

RobMcCaffery
Re Championship meetings, I think it's pretty clear that this deal was a single season emergency substitution for Sky when it became clear they weren't going to change their minds about dumping speedway. Clues are in the very restricted number of meetings, with a June start and just eight regular season matches. Expecting Championship matches as well was a little unrealistic. It's up to the BSPA to take this last chance and make it work so that we can have a proper deal in place for future seasons with 'extras' such as SGBC matches next year and in future seasons, whether with BT Sport or Sky. I suspect we should be grateful that we have even this half-season! You can guarantee there'll be no such gratitude in the BSF which will as ever just tear it all to pieces. Not sure what your design platform is, but the quickest way would be have the four colours in boxes and click and drag the colour order. Alternatively designate 4 buttons with a colour dedicated to each button.
Midland Red
I thought Ermolenko was commentating on the British Final? I'm sure I heard the word "straightaway" used. Oh, that was Kelvin, was it? Not sure what your design platform is, but the quickest way would be have the four colours in boxes and click and drag the colour order. Alternatively designate 4 buttons with a colour dedicated to each button. Then they could have matching helmet colours for the riders, with a green one in place of white! What a novel idea! I for one am grateful BUT if it is "up to the BSPA to take this last chance" then reduced rate entry should be given emergency serious consideration to avoid the 75% empty terraces being on view at too many tracks even in this limited run pr coverage. And those wide areas of space will do nothing to encourage BT to do it next year will it? £10 for all adults would be worth it as marketing tool. It's not too late.
