Sings4Speedway
Quick question(s) towards those more knowledgeable in this area. Do / how do the above riders attain averages? I was always of the belief that if you guested as a home rider / away rider for a side that would form one of the 4h/4a for averages to be calculated upon? (as i said belief not known facts) If this is the case however it is feasible that an unattached rider could attain an average over the base 3.00 and therefore no longer be eligible to continue taking these bookings? If this is not the case then why would a talented newcomer want to sign into any teams 1-7 when they could remain a freelance 3 pointer and if scoring highly become a very desirable guest with an asking £'s per point total to match? waco
You could have a point, but what youngster would not want to sign and ride for his own team ,And if they are any good these days they are usually snapped up before their average can increase... You're right that if an unattached rider does 4 meetings and hits over a 3.00, then he'd get a new average. Joe Lawlor from last year is an example. That's why Brennan & Jenkins only did 3 league meetings last season.
TurnTwo
Spooner must be going that way? As with Hampshire?
greyhoundp
Not to mention a certain Ben Woodhull, however the problem would be that were they to attain an average during a season, who would then be left to use as an unattached 3 pointer ?, i mean riders that would be of a reasonable league standard. Moleman27
yeah I think your right, would have to be an average after the seasons finished as otherwise your taking away their rides which will help them progress and because their then wouldn't be an decent unnataced 3pointers
Sings4Speedway
All very good points made & certainly there is no easy answer i was just wondering what the current rules actually are (if there are any?). Imagine for example if Dan Bewley had decided to remain unattached for his whole debut season? He could have guested for the whole season to the highest bidder and dramatically effected results and overall the league.

Rule 16.2.8 A NDL rider, who is not in an NDL team declaration will be given an Established MA after completing 4 meetings, irrespective of being home or away Rule 16.2.1 Established MA's are calculated, for a specific number of applicable meetings ..... Applicable meetings - National Development League: League meetings only

The first two have almost certainly done their 4 meetings?

Islander15
But all three are in DL teams so wont gain averagesDL? Do you mean SDL? That doesn't matter. Anybody know what averages the likes of Spooner o'keefe and woodhull are hitting? The first two have almost certainly done their 4 meetings? BV have been clever towards Ben Woodhull because they name him as a number 8 in the meeting. which means his decent scores don't count towards an average. pete cc
Anybody know what averages the likes of Spooner o'keefe and woodhull are hitting? The first two have almost certainly done their 4 meetings? Without dissing anyone, spooner will soon be over that 3 mark, O'keefe will be guesting for the rest of the season & never making that 3 & woodhull will be looked after by BV until being let loose on the NL next season.
