CookieIpswich
Also speedway being not like other sports is maybe the problem Football, Rugby League, Union, Ice Hockey, UK Basketball, Netball etc all big or growing sports in the UK do not have athletes competing for both leagues even if on alternative nights If my suggestion was implemented it would be done with an expansion view that after four years you could expand the top league once new riders have been introduced into the sport in an expanded national league where they have more opportunity Guests would be simple, can't get a replacement from the other league clubs so guests would be allowed from the national league or shock horror a club can sign a rider not racing in the uk as a guest or on a fixed term replacement contract Fans might see our best rider make a few appearances, plus less meetings might see a few names return
mikebv
How is a rider getting injured riding for their other British club any different from them getting injured in Poland, Sweden, Denmark, GP's, Qualifiers etc? This is a sport with high risk of injury, something we have to live with. However, having an injury which means you are out for a month in Poland and Sweden will mean just three maybe four matches missed. Over here you could miss over 20 when riding in two or maybe even three leagues, hence guests (and lots of them) become inevitable.. Poland and and Sweden live with exactly the same issues but still retain credibilty in their Leagues..
The Cheese
Rugby Union and League have players who are dual-registered and can play for both sides, in Cricket you occasionally have players on loan at a club in one format and playing for their parent club in another. May not be as common as in speedway but it happens in other sports.
CookieIpswich
As someone said not everyone will agree a way forward, everyone has an opinion they are entitled to. I can't comment on cricket as I don't follow it but am I right in saying their seasons are somewhat broken down into different competition such as one day, test matches etc I spoke to buster about my ideas above, took two months to get through to him and only got through cos I said I wanted to sponsor the league lol then had a chat about streaming and costs, what I achieved in promoting another sport plus who ny old man was P.s. no meeting ever happened ha

This year the county schedule is more in blocks in terms of format but last year you could have some teams playing championship games whilst others had T20 etc. And then you have the England contracted players where the ECB decide when they can play for their counties. So basically it's like the BSPA owning Craig Cook's contract and saying 'sorry we don't want you riding for Belle Vue for the next 2 weeks' And that is a little worrying if it takes that long to get through to the head of the BSPA. No wonder we struggle to attract a sponsor for the league Edited June 19, 2017 by The Cheese

PHILIPRISING
there is no way that you are going to get more people to go to Speedway with less meetings/ You can ask almost everyone and one of their biggest moans are why cannot we get a home meeting once a week.sometimes there is a 3 or 4 week gap. Less meetings do not reduce the costs of the stadiums and riders then earn less. FULLY agree. Going to speedway needs to become habit, a weekly ritual. It's Monday, Tuesday, whatever... we go to speedway. Lose that continuity and you lose fans. Simples.

clambo71
No it's not......it makes a mockery of the sport and nobody takes it seriously. Can you imagine Sergio Aguero playing for Manchester City at the weekend and Huddersfield Town in midweek? It would be farcical, and that is what speedway is making itself with this crazy rule.........if you don't believe me.......look around you at the open spaces on the terraces next time you go to a meeting. Bit of silly analogy.Speedway riders are self employed footballers are not. For your post to make any sense you would have to put riders on 3 or 4 yr contracts and not sack riders when they have problems with form or machinery plus would you be prepared to pay increased addmission prices
