scotchopper
Grippy track or not grippy track that is the question..... There was some fantastic passes last night as a result of the grip in the track particularly Sam passing sedgy and Rory the cut back from Ricky in ht13 and the flying Erik Riss looking really good. It's no real surprise that the top 3 want a grippy track. However there were at least 4 riders in the field last night incapable of riding it, even Danny king, Rory schlein and Sam masters all hit the deck in one race and of course the horrendous crash for Mark Riss tells me that it's not possible to keep it that way. Ultimately both weeks the track has been weather affected and we have had a number of weeks this year where the track was super slick because there was no rain for a month so there is no exact science and difficult to get consistency. But ultimately if we are putting in rules forcing teams to have novices at no 7 it means we can't have tracks as grippy as last night. As for the scores monarchs got out of jail last night, Ipswich looked a certainty to get 4 points from the match at heat 6 and I couldn't see where we were getting heat advantages once Mark was out. Both teams threw away points but the two 5-0s killed it. Ricky wells and erik riss looking back to their best so some positive signs but we need then bottom 4 going better than they are to back them up. For those staying that Ipswich would win over two legs are forgetting monarchs led at foxhall until heat 7 so I wouldn't count your chickens yet. Best wishes to mark in what was a horrendous crash, hope you're back on a bike soon
TheScotsman
they need to check the weather forecast it was spot on for Friday over Armadale. Can only see a couple of riders that would want a grippy track on last nights performance . Dunno what forecast you were looking at but the BBC one for Armadale yesterday said ................ 14.00 thick cloud 14 15.00 light cloud 14 16.00 thick cloud 14 17.00 thick cloud 15 18.00 thick cloud 15 19.00 thick cloud 15 20.00 thick cloud 16 21.00 thick cloud 15 22.00 thick cloud 15 So no rain forecast at all - so they watered it I believe and then it rained.
Gazc
Grippo all round then. Assuming you ever have another home meeting that is! Heard there may be one planned for July when i am in Tenerife starting to feel unwanted. Edited June 17, 2017 by Gazc
TheScotsman
That's a bummer. It'll probably be rained off though so no worries. Your season is becoming as bad as ours was last year.

There was dampness in the air all day and light rain forecast for late afternoon which is what happened.Still that is history ,poor advert for the standard of the sport and if there were any newcomers doubt they will be back( judging by size of crowd not many though)£17 is not value for money IMO .because we only had 2 that didnt fall and one of those had efTrue.! TheScotsman
Monarchs were down to 3 riders that could turn a corner and yet still won!! But one of them had an ef; another had a fall and an ef; and the other had seen his bruv carried off in an ambulance.

TheScotsman
I wasn't there so can't say. But they were 6 up at one stage so can't have been that bad. I still think Ippo are a strong team. And for all their supposed weakness at reserve, Mountain managed to stay on board all night and the reserves scored 9+2 between them compared to our 10+2 (of which paid 10 were the walk-overs).

Best wishes to mark in what was a horrendous crash, hope you're back on a bike soon And? You lost the meeting because Ipswich were the better side pure and simple , no bad luck or falls Ipswich lost out here due to not being able to stay on the machines in scoring positions, something that is unlikely to happen again. Looking at the 2 meetings (and i was at the home match) Ipswich willl have nothing to fear over 2 legs from Edinburgh. Clegg, Davey and Mark Riss were so so poor at our place, they would need a huge turnaround in their ability to ride the track As ive said so far Glasgow are the only team to worry me in a 2 leg match

Bagpuss
All very well to label riders 'throttle jockeys' but tricky tracks are best ridden in an attacking fashion are they not? Also if the three most experienced and accomplished riders all ended up on the deck then those with far less laps round the block will inevitably struggle to stay upright. TheScotsman
Don't know that the track was to blame for those three coming off. Sam admitted he made a mistake trying a big cut back - I've read that Rory's mistake was from trying to go impossibly slowly - I think Danny was going for a big blast. And Connor Mountain seemed to manage to stay upright ok.

That's how I saw it.Track needed a bit throttle control that's all.Clegg and Greaves were clueless and lucky to get round most races.Mountain was in control and got some points by riding steady.
