Monarchs V Ippo

I've got one word to describe tonight, but I'm not allowed to use it

That was dire all round, first best wishes to Mark Riss hope his injury is not to bad (all we were told it was a hand injury sounds nasty though).the track was bit tricky but some riders did not have a clue how to set up or ride it.Conner Mountain deserves a mention because he recognised the conditions and rode sensibly then they take him out Ht 14 for Greaves who was a total liability all night!!!. King ,Newman and Schlien all threw good points away,Ipswitch must be wondering how they managed to lose the match.Clegg was poor and clueless and was gifted most of his points Apart from 1 ride Pickering struggled and Davey was just the usual. As a advert for British speedway it was poor and I certainly won't be back in a hurry .Masters was the class act apart from his " get off" which caused Marks crash. All in All dire.

If the track is not as slick as a motorway way these days all these young superstars haven't a clue how to ride, the throttle works both ways.

Did I just read there is a go fund me page to help nathan with bike equipment, for a rider that competes in two leagues? Seriously? How did riders in the past cope with no go fund me or other donation sites

If he could stay on it ,it would help. Edited by Fromafar

Such a pity that the track has been made very tricky by rain 2 weeks running.

Could /should have been a showpiece.

But both teams seemed to be trying to give it away with falls and engine failures.

Hope Mark Riss makes a speedy recovery.

On reflection, the grippy track certainly sorted out the men from the boys on both sides, and instead of the gate and go which is now the norm at most tracks, we were treated to passing during the racing after the initial opening two bends.

The match report on the Ippo website is a fair description of the racing, and at the end of the day, the riders with skill prevailed over the throttle jockeys, who struggled for the most part.

Wells, Erik Riss, Masters, Sedgmen, and Schlein showed the way, with Riss Jnr clocking the second fastest time of the Season of 54.8 in heat 5.

Pickering in particular really struggled in the latter part of the meeting, but I'd guess he has never ridden such a grippy track before, and hopefully will learn from this experience for the future, as I hope Edinburgh continue to prepare their track with plenty grip.

Commiserations to Mark Riss on his unfortunate crash and wish him a full and rapid recovery from his injuries.

Strange ippo were struggling with the track so much given how grippy foxholes is.

Would have thought Newman & Heeps were experienced enough to have been able to stay on the bikes in heats 14 & 8?

Can appreciate all the younger / less experienced ones on both sides struggling a bit cos they don't see grip often these days.

Certainly were 2 massive (!!) heats.

Oh well you'll just have to thump the Weegies instead!

While a grippy track may be fine, there are not enough ambulances available for the meeting to run smoothly IMO . Edited by Fromafar

The Weegies like a track grippy rather than slick.

Unlike most Witches fans, this result has filled me with confidence for the rest of the season. Edinburgh were one of the 2/3 sides I didn't think we would beat over two legs, but we obviously are capable. Just thankful all our riders got through unscathed, the track certainly has changed recently, even Erik Riss fell off last week when in the lead, so it's obviously a bit dodgy at the moment.

Considering we gifted away 2 5-0 in the meeting im more than happy with the performance.

Gives me a feeling we can win this league, i can only see Glasgow being a threat over 2 legs.

Lets hope they all stay fit and maybe this year could be Ipswichs year

Erik's fall was nothing to do with the track.

His steel shoe came off causing him to fall.

Same as Kyle Newman at ippo the other week.

The track has been made more grippy as requested by the riders but the rain last week and again yesterday caused the track to be more tricky.

But the good riders cope with these things - witness Sam's overtakes last night and Erik's second fastest time of the season in heat 5 last night.

they need to check the weather forecast it was spot on for Friday over Armadale. Can only see a couple of riders that would want a grippy track on last nights performance .

Agree with the sentiment. With every situation you need to try and learn from it and take any positives.

Away wins are hard to get anywhere but especially at strong sides with impressive home records.

To throw away the chance of one is very frustrating and disappointing.

So yes Id go with your positivity looking forward but only after the rightful b@!!@king is handed out first.
