montie
Didn't matt ford cancel a meeting a few seasons back cos he thought the public wouldn't be getting good value? Yes ithink he did... And got hammered for it lol... Guess they can't win what ever they do
Pob
That's a bit harsh, hardly the promotion's fault. As it happens, surely the guests make the Bandits stronger. Harsh tbh I thought I was being easy on them . It's a joke and also explain why you think the guests will make them stronger . Masters I'll give you that one but Bowtell and Morley ?
Baldyman
With people choosing to stay away, would you choose to go if it was cheaper? Say 12 quid?

CookieIpswich
I'd go if its £
Baldyman
It's never gonna be cheaper, they would rather see an empty stadium. Same as you Scotsman..I think I still wouldn't go. I want to see competitive racing. I can now easily see how there are so many that used to go.
Barnstormer
So we can only replace Gappmaier with a NL rider ?think problem is mate your team not have had lot choice in the 5 point guest department ! Have look and see who not riding that might have fitted. Sarjeant Wilkinson and likes all racing. Mind with some of Gappmaier recent away shows Morley might be as good and trying to fill a number 7 spot is bit joke these days as others such as Workington Sheffield Scunthorpe also finding Edited June 14, 2017 by Barnstormer
spanner47
Didn't matt ford cancel a meeting a few seasons back cos he thought the public wouldn't be getting good value? Only problem with calling off meetings these days is, when you try and rearrange them, the chances are we'd lose some riders. Harsh tbh I thought I was being easy on them . It's a joke and also explain why you think the guests will make them stronger . Masters I'll give you that one but Bowtell and Morley ? Must admit I only looked at Masters and thought he'd be a lot better than who they had at No1 last time. Div 1 has had this problem for years, we've generally avoided it in Div 2, but with all this doubling up, it can only get worse.
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
I can totally understand why a few are planning to give it a miss. It has been pretty mundane fayre in the last couple of meetings. I'm going on the basis that if you're not expecting much you cant be too disappointed Sometimes its those meetings that don't seem they are likely to be the best that actually turn out to be just that
happyvalleywoolerman
We need all teams in the league to be more flexible and help the other teams out. In the last couple of weeks I think Berwick were at Glasgow, Peterborough and Ipswich helping out with fixtures (without a full team). Maybe you could be less critical of Berwick and vent at other teams not prepared to fill a blank week. I was told on Saturday night by a senior Bandits official they hadn't wanted to go to Ipswich tomorrow, but had their arms twisted at BSPA level. Even then, although they knew Nick Morris would be at Swindon they agreed without knowing Bridger, Gappmaier and Payne wouldn't be there. Like this poster said don't be too critical of Berwick.
Super Blue
On my post, I wasn't being critical of Berwick I was just trying to point out that given the team it wasn't going to be the most appealing fixture to attend. I suppose the nice weather might help a bit with the crowd.
Baldyman
I think the nice weather may be even more reason to stay away? Anyway should be at least 3 races with passes in tonight as it's going up 1 a week. I shall cast the occasional eye over updates whilst sitting in my locals beer garden with a few cold ones. Hope it's a good meeting for you guys. Edited June 15, 2017 by baldyman
spanner47
Let's look on the bright side, we've only had one decent race in the past 2/3 meetings and that involved Mr Masters, so more of the same please Sam. Whenever I get down about the fact that our league is now getting diluted, I cheer myself up by looking at the Rye House fixture list, meeting May 20th, then last night, then one more before the end of July, when they have 3 in 8 days. Div 2 isn't great, but it's brilliant compared to the other one!!! Edited June 15, 2017 by spanner47

I wouldn't be critical of Berwick for helping out another club, but I would criticise them for a) not knowing if their riders were available and b ) then saying they didn't want to and they were forced/persuaded by BSPA, your senior official should have told BSPA to "go away" if Berwick couldn't put out a team which matched their usual strength then don't agree to the match - simples! I suspect you read the man from Wooler's post wrongly. Berwick's wish was to have this rained-off meeting restaged later in the season (Nick Morris was always going to be at Swindon tonight) rather than this evening. However, having reluctantly agreed to return on this date, they will of course honour their commitment, that would always happen. As luck has it, since accepting the date they've lost Bridger and Payne through injury, Howe and Etheridge have also been sidelined -- but are back now -- and Gappmaier (rather impressively) qualified through the GP system. But to say they agreed the date 'not knowing if their riders were available' is incorrect. No club knows when their riders might get injured. It is a shame to read posters saying they won't attend. It is a beautiful day, there's speedway on tonight and every prospect of some good races, be they in Heat 2 or Heat 15. Have a night out at the skids -- get over yourselves! Who knows what might occur? If we don't go, we'll never find out, never see it happen.
Baldyman
So basically you are saying I should just turn up and hand my money over, even if I believe it's not going to be that great??

I have done that for the last 8 years at Berwick pal, I turned up every week knowing that it wasnt going to be brilliant especially on the track prep side. This season is much better, we wern't winning until recently, but the track preparation has massively improved and the racing has been really good because of it. To re-iterate I put up with the sh*te for 8 years and have now been rewarded.long may it continue. Baldyman
I've turned up almost every week for the last 41 years, and it's now finally sunk in that I don't have to. Now if the racing this season had been edge of the seat stuff, then I probably would have still been there last week and this week. From my prospective it hasn't been great, some may think it's been brillian, who knows. Edited June 15, 2017 by baldyman

To re-iterate I put up with the sh*te for 8 years and have now been rewarded.long may it continue. The trouble is that the racing at Ippo has got worse year by year. And if I was going to shell out my shekels I would want to see some decent racing between well matched proper strength teams. Yes there MIGHT be some decent races tonight - having Smiling Sam as a guest will help in that respect, but to be honest I would far rather he was not riding but was conserving some energy for his real team tomorrow. But I just think that if Edinburgh managed to get humped last week (albeit only in 3 races), then Berwick are likely to be on the end of a worse battering tonight and the prospect of Alfie Bowtell maybe trying too hard and coming off in each race just does not appeal. And of course r/r in operation will bring more delays. No matter how much Dick Barrie tries to dress things up, this is not an appetising fixture given the makeup of the Bandits team. Having watched Ippo knock up an easy 60 points against them earlier in the season, there is no reason to believe tonight will be much better for Berwick toninght. Interesting that only 1 of the previous Berwick team will actually be riding toning and 4 of the previous Ippo lot. So as a neutral I will save my cash and my fuel, maybe for another day. 2ndbendbeerhut
Only way tonight we will see some passing is if Ipswich riders start 15m back... After being able to count on 1 hand the amount of passes in both of the previous 2 matches and the entertainment level being 2/10 ill give it a miss
