iris123
Funny,i was only listening to Ronnie Moore's interview with Briggo yesterday, yet again. He does rave about Craven and also Jack Young, plus Vic Duggan.Of course Vic Huxley and Tom Farndon were from an earlier period.I'd love to see all of those plus an Ove Fundin at his peak.Hard to pick one out good thread though,Steve Edited June 12, 2017 by iris123

Guest
Tommy Jansson, Peter Craven, Sverre Harrdfelt, Tom Farndon, Wilbur Lameroux, George Newton & Ronnie Moore promoted by Ronnie Greene
Terry
Why do these threads always go off tangent so quickly? Steve asks for one rider and straight away it's a list! Anyway, mine would be Peter Craven.

False dawn
Simple one for me...Peter Craven! I read the title and thought, "There is only one for me, but I bet no one else votes for him". Now I find several people have already voted for him. Peter Craven, of course. Those pictures you see of him are quite outstanding and show a quite unique (almost) riding style. Wessex Wanderer
Bluey Wilkinson or Tom Farndon. Can't separate the two.
BobC
Jack Parker. Probably the best ever rider never to have won an Official World Title He won just about everything else.
Midland Red
Tom Farndon, without a doubt Other choices would include Vic Duggan and Jack Parker

Van der Elst
Yes - got to be Peter Craven - I am just a couple of years too young. I have seen most of the greats from '65 onwards: Fundin, Nygren, Briggs, Mauger and many others, but would loved to have seen Craven Ah Well.

lucifer sam
Peter Craven - a firm favourite of my dad. Oxford was his favourite track, and it was rumoured he was in talks to move to Cowley in 1964. All the best Rob
frigbo
Apart from obvious ones like Craven and Ronnie Moore, I would like to have seen Tadeusz Teodorowicz.
norbold
This thread does make me feel old. I've seen most of these riders that others are too young to have seen.....
The White Knight
Yes - got to be Peter Craven - I am just a couple of years too young. I have seen most of the greats from '65 onwards: Fundin, Nygren, Briggs, Mauger and many others, but would loved to have seen Craven Ah Well. I fit in to the same catagory as yourself Van der Elst. I have seen quite a few of the 'greats' since 1964 when I first became interested in Speedway. It is the greatest regret of my Speedway life that I never saw Peter Craven ride. He is still a hero to me though. He and Briggo (who I have seen ride and met) are my all time favourites. It says something of the Legend of Peter Craven that he can be one of my two favourite Riders - and I never saw him actually race.
