lucifer sam
DERBY CRACKER POISED FOR EDDIE WRIGHT RACEWAY HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions’ promoter Rob Godfrey is optimistic that his side can end the recent Indian Sign that big-city rivals Sheffield Tigers have over them, when the two clubs meet in a local derby at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday (5.30pm). Scorpions went on a winning spree against Tigers between 2012 and 2014, but in the last couple of seasons that trend has been reversed. Josh Auty returns to Scorpions’ colours, following the expiry of his 14-day-ban for taking some time out of the sport. Meanwhile, Nathan Greaves has been booked to guest for Josh Bailey, although Greaves received a knock at Ipswich on Thursday. Godfrey says: “It’s another tough meeting on Sunday against a Sheffield side that has already won at the Eddie Wright Raceway a month ago. “I’m sure the Tigers will be expecting to win again, given the respective league positions of the two teams, and I’m sure plenty of their fans will make their way up the M18 hopeful of seeing another away win. “But I’m optimistic about our chances. Before the heavens opened last Sunday, we were performing really well - between them, Michael Palm Toft, Tero Aarnio and Lewis Kerr had won all five races. “Plus we have Josh Auty back in our ranks on Sunday. What happened with Josh happened and it’s water under the bridge now. “We’re looking forwards, not backwards, and after his break to get his head straight and sort a few problems out, I’m hopeful that we will get a fully refreshed and recharged Josh Auty back in the No. 5 race-jacket. “I’m sure it’s going to be another cracking derby between the two sides, full of top-notch racing, although we’d like to be the team which emerges from the clash with the SGB Championship points.” NOTE ON RE-ADMISSION TICKETS FROM SCORPIONS V PETERBOROUGH: Please note that last Sunday’s Scunthorpe v Peterborough KOC match was halted FIVE races before a result could be declared (the completion of Heat 10). Re-admission tickets therefore come into effect. Your tickets, which were stamped before your departure, will be valid for one of the next three home meetings, or the re-staging of the Scunthorpe v Peterborough KOC meeting (a re-staging date has yet to be agreed). In this case, deductions to admission prices on reproducing a valid, stamped re-admission ticket are as follows: Adult, Student/OAP and Child (10 – 17) – all £5. That is, a deduction of £1 on each race not completed prior to Heat 10. For example, the pricing structure for Sunday’s Scunthorpe v Sheffield SGB Championship meeting is as follows. Full admission prices for those without a valid, stamped ticket: Adult: £15.00 Student/OAP: £13.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £35 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) Reduced prices for those WITH a valid, stamped ticket: Adult: £10.00 (£5 deduction) Student/OAP: £8.00 (£5 deduction) Child (10 – 17) FREE (£5 deduction) Family Ticket £20 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) (£15 deduction) We’re also aware that some people left without getting their ticket stamped. In this case, please bring your programme from the meeting, PLUS your unstamped ticket, and we will arrange to re-admit you at the reduced price. Expected teams for Sunday: Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Michael Palm Toft (captain), 2. Carl Wilkinson, 3. Lewis Kerr, 4. Ryan Douglas, 5. Josh Auty, 6. Tero Aarnio, 7. Nathan Greaves (guest). Sheffield Tigers: 1. Josh Grajczonek, 2. Todd Kurtz, 3. Lasse Bjerre, 4. Josh Bates, 5. Kyle Howarth, 6. Rob Branford, 7. Nathan Stoneman (guest). lucifer sam
Nathan Greaves and Nathan Stoneman have both picked up knocks in the last few days, so David Wallinger will ride at No 7 for Scorpions and Layne Cupitt for Tigers. All the best Rob

IronScorpion
Looks like alot of interest in this meeting Depends if we get blown away again by being passed on the outside as our riders are not doing it. Entertainment is one thing but winning is another & we are losing more fans week by week. I see it in our stand & by not seeing familiar faces when the crowd walk by at the end of the meeting. People picking & choosing when to come by finding other things to do. The hard core fans are decreasing. We, as a team, are struggling performance wise & confidence wise & having 2 riders perform week in week out is, simply, not good enough. I have heard enough of the excuses & it is time now to start performing like we know they can. Berwick's fortunes have changed by having a no1 & I would think their attendances have increased, also. Bagpuss
Looks like alot of interest in this meeting There is a general pattern of people not commenting as much on meeting threads nowadays, one wonders if people are being put off the BSF by the bickering and trolling which now seems commonplace or whether there is a waning interest in British speedway generally.

IronScorpion
http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ following the path of that narrow band, we might get a shower around 4.00-4.30 but it will only be a natural watering. Warm & sunny now so should not do any damage, might even help! better later https://www.theweathernetwork.com/uk/hourly-weather-forecast/yorkshire-and-the-humber/scunthorpe
Paul Johnson
What a fantastic meeting that was,, well done Scunny, hard luck to sheffield,, no idea how Auty got the nod for Ht 15, think most had Kerr with Ryan or Tofty, but credit to who made the call,,

Steve55
After getting the score back to 39 a-piece can't believe what happened in heats 14 and 15. Our reserve (Rob Branford) and Todd Kurtz had too many poor rides conceding 6, 4 - 2 heats scores to the Scorpions. They obviously wanted it more than us especially at the end, very disappointing for the Sheffield fans, not the same performance from the Tigers as the one they gave in May. Aarnio was a bit of a trump card at reserve, but if he continues scoring like this he won't be there for long, we'll see if Wilkinson can perform as well when he's at number 6. Albert
Nice to get a win.. bonus to beat those pesky tiggers.. Good team effort from the Scorps, they all chipped in valuble points. Big improvement from Josh Auty and Ryan Douglas... that's key to the remainer of our season, need those two to kick on now. Sheffield.. pretty much a four man team again at Scunny.. the four men got them a win last time out, this time they didn't quite have that cutting edge. Good effort from Grajczonek, Bjerre, Bates and particularly Howarth. Some great racing on an extremely windy day, track was a tad tricky early on but improved.. it wasn't a EWR classic by any means.. but a much needed win for Scunny.. and I'll take that Edited June 11, 2017 by Albert
Charlieboy
Dissapointing result today too many poor rides.Branford needs to be more consistant as hes suppose to be the trump card.Hopefully Shanes will add a bit of extra fire power.Hope this result wont be too damaging at the end of the season.Losing today puts more pressure on winning away at harder venues. Our away form could cost us in the long run.Lets hope scunny can turn over a few of our rivals in the B fixtures.Plenty more fixtures to come but improvement is needed and more consistency.Just hope all this stupid doubling up wont come back to bite us at the business end of the season when all the riders are fatigued !!!!!. eric i
Scunny needed that hopefully it was the turning point. Douglas and Auty looking like their old selves. Was Douglas on GTR or his GM?
STEPHEN 333
Well done Scunthorpe, you totally deserved your win, as for Sheffield, Oh dear, when are our promoters going to realise that Todd Kurtz and Rob Branford are not doing the business for the Tigers, time for a change or two, Ok Scunthorpe had a little bit of luck when David Wallinger fell in heat four and was ruled out for the rest of the meeting, meaning that Aarnio had two extra rides, he outscored the dreadful Branford, and our other reserve Layne Cuppitt on his own, but that does not mean Kurtz and Branford can have an afternoon off, they let down the Tigers badly, as I said time for a change. Bostonian
Is this a new rule, I thought Scunny would have to run one race with only 1 rider. Surely this rule is open to abuse. I thought the same thing yesterday Eric, I always presumed that a reserve had to have 3 riders, even if injured? Also, since when has the SGP warning rule for jump starts been brought into our leagues? Rob mentioned it over the tannoy yesterday after Branford had moved on 1... As for the meeting, it really came to life at about heat 10. Poor from the Tigers to not even pick up a point but when it was merely a 4 man team, it will always catch up with you in the end. Don't agree with the criticism on some riders get though. The reason Kurtz and Branford are on such low averages is down to consistency. Rob's a reserve on a very low average and Todd has been on similar average for a few years now.. That's how you have to build teams with big scoring heat leaders. Chopping and changing riders so much just because they have a bad meeting now and again, especially on away tracks, is not the answer in my opinion. June
Well done Scorpions on the win yesterday. A shame about bad luck for MPT when his bike packed up when getting to the 2nd bend on the 1st lap in heat 1. and similar for Josh having passed opposition to suddenly come to a halt in a later heat. Some lost points there, otherwise the team rode well. Good to have you back Josh looking more like your old self. Hope these are signs of upping the tempo from here on! A nasty looking crash into the fence for our guest reserve who walked away from it. I hope he's not seriously injured and not too much damage to his bike. I hate losing at home so yesterday I come away happy! Thank you team!
