liam
Agree, it was a good meeting to watch although somewhat drawn out. I am still trying to figure out why Alfie was excluded/disqualified in his first ride where he showed all the qualities of an out and out racer. There was absolutely no contact and Stoneman seemed to fall off from the shock of being passed!I thought exactly the same, didn't look contact from where I was standing but wasn't 100% sure. Alfie is fast becoming a fan favourite he never gives up and is a real racer. Best atmosphere I have seen a Lakeside for years aswell I thought the Kent fans made it a really good night.
waco
Stoneman clipped Alfies back wheel and fell as they entered the corner and he should have been excluded..I understand there was a trainee ref in the box with mr Reeve and this may account for the decision.......? gazzac
The standard formula that knocks a percentage off the average for each year out if the sport. Hurry was given the average during the winter and wasn't named in the Lakeside squad at the start of the season so he was available for Kent ir anyone else to sign if they wished. None of the other clubs wanted him now they are moaning because Lakeside have him.
Loyal hammer
Some excellent races last night. Wajtknechts pass on Thomas was superb and heats 13 and 15 were also great races. I couldn't believe Bowtell was excluded in heat 3. Alfies fast becoming a fans favourite with the Lakeside faithful. Special mention to Jack Thomas, a great nights work after his horrible looking crash in the original staging of heat 7.
teaboy279
Christ some of you are blinkered. Even some of the lakeside fans near us weren't impressed with Bowtell turning left on Stoneman. Â Anyway I hate going to Arena Essex, poor track, poor viewing, and no atmosphere BUT that was a very entertaining meeting tonight. With more passing then my previous 5 visits to the venue added together. 5he new track guy obviously knows how to prepare a proper Race Track with various lines. Could not go their everyweek though...
gazzac
Really? Think it more likely it was planned from word go regarding Mason, what appeared to be getting the averages low enough to get Hurry in, and then being able to get the team re declared. No rules broken, just very clever by Cook, to get 3 heat leaders in the team instead of 2 . (Took too long typing, this is a reply to E I Adios post! ) Edited June 10, 2017 by gazzac
East End Fan
I agree with Waco. One of the best meetings I've seen in a long time. Felt a bit sorry for Kent when they lost Stoneman who had ridden a very well after being knocked off by Alfie in his first ride and then had a big crash with his team partner in his second ride and took no further part. Our bottom enders performed better than I had expected although the early races of Rowe showed him to be one to watch. I suspect he got tired later on. Very good result for us though and no surprise that Paul outscored his average ! Zach was highly impressive and showed his class with one or two very good passes. Good advert for the NL
TonyE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLlRhAX4MQY Â Video of the meeting - not the best angle for the last bend passes though.

So Hurry would have been allowed one reduction from his last EL average of 3.91. I believe the reduction is eight percent so that would leave his average at 3.60. Multiply that average by four and the figure is 14.40... Â Richard Hall was told last year if he wanted to drop into the NL it would be on his last Conference League average from 2004. Hurry last rode in 2010 for Lakeside in the Elite League. Edited June 10, 2017 by Ben91

Don't know what that figure comes out at though as too hot for my brain today. Lol

Lol Quite right, thinking about his average being from 2010 I just doubled it and doubled it again, HT's figure is the right one! Still a lot more than he signed on... Moleman27
In hurry's case though it should have been higher as dropping two leagues, where as ones like Clifton and others from last season where reassessed from their old Conference league averages so not as much a problem with what was given for those. gazzac
Whatever way Hurry's average was worked out it certainly is being proved that as 99% of people thought it was way out and not right. That said at least the people who are bothering to go and watch are taking to it and think that the racing can be more exiting than the old elite, which was posted by myself and many others at the start of the season. Still stand by that, once you've been a few times and adapt to it, if you've a good team, especially at home as Lakeside certainly have now, you'll not want to go back up the leagues.

I don't either providing its applied consistently.  It hasn't been, because Harland Cook was refused a similar reduction this season.  Have a quick look at the Plymouth thread - I don't think Roynon should be riding for them based upon the existing SCB rule book. He should be on an old NL average, not the converted PL one. marko
Heat 13 looked a cracker and in fact the meeting as a whole came across well from what I have seen, nice composed ride by Zach almost forcing Luke into making a mistake, I would be amazed if opposition teams riders are able to go through the card against this trio of heat leaders, Paul Hurry is looking a steal even on a nine point average right now. Agree but if he had come on a 9 point plus more realistic average, you wouldn't have the team you have now, which is the gripe with most fans. Not blaming Lakeside but as usual the BSPA cause so much unrest and confusion it just annoys most fans. Look at the Plymouth thread and b there's a similar discussion starting about Roynon. East End Fan
While it's great to have someone of Hurry's ability in the team at an absolute steal of an average, it will only last for one season. When 2018 comes round the team will be massacred and certainly will not be able to track the top 3 they have now. Look at what other teams have lost in the past. If you are lucky enough to find a good youngster who steadily improves as the season goes by, the loss of top men is not so painful. But if you don't have that luxury it can be very disappointing. IMO the averages that have been used in the past seasons at NL level are far too low.
