Poole Pirates Vs Wolverhampton Wolves 7/6/17

Recommended Posts

@Gavan You live in a very black and white world.

No i dont.....what i do is try to look at the facts....take those facts and then build a case around those.

Sadly a certain person on here doesnt deal in facts and prefers to just spout guff.

Klindt at home in this meeting will be a big loss for Poole

At Belle Vue the facts are he wont be.

What could happen is that Bates scores double figures in the home match and only 2 in the away match nobody knows.

What people shouldnt do is just dismiss the evidence we have before us.

Steve Shovlar is saying that Klindt would be better than Bates at the NSS.............not sure how anyone can say that

Nope but not many clubs have had a 4 week home fixture break which is a joke! I thought 'regular' speedway was what was talked about after the AGM.

This will be a good opportunity to beat a weakened Wolves side but I'm not 100% confidence we will, Wolves have some very good track specialists and we also have riders misfiring and inconsistent.

weekly speedway seems to be the thing of the past.just mean more and more people are lost to the sport and with a possibility of rain it would mean another 2 weeks with no speedway !!

On the subject of Bates he should be able to beat the Wolves reserves but Bewley may be more difficult at Belle Vue. We shouldn't have ant trouble beating Wolves, Josh G was poor at Leicester, Thorsell rarely goes well at Poole, Masters and Schlein should be ok but the reserves are also poor especially Greaves so a easy win on the cards.

@Gavan What you classify as a "fact" is different to me then.

What we have here opinions here from two long-suffering speedway fans (and other adding their two-pennies worth). Just so you know, it is okay to disagree about your perceptions of a rider's talent/ability with other fans of the sport. You don't have to take over a forum thread and bludgeon us all with the same info time and time again. Repeating something, or saying it even louder, doesn't further legitimise your position.

Your evidence re: Josh Grajczonek neglected to mention he was a former Poole rider, so has plenty of home track experience for example. Or how, in my opinion, Freddie has been only so so at Poole in the past. For a rider of his calibre I'd have expected more from him on the numerous times I've seen him at Wimborne Road.

As for Bates vs Klindt at the NSS, I haven't studied their scores there, but knowing Klindt (gater) and the track (amazing!) a trier like Bates would be the preferred option, but offers much more volatility in his scoring. So its youth, upside and inconsistency vs the more reliable, steady old-hand....

But its fact not opinion?

Im not disagreeing that Klindt is a better rider than Bates , im sure the vast majority of fans would agree with that.

In this match i think Poole will miss Klindt quite a bit and Bates wont get near what Klindt would have done.

BUT....

Klindt has a poor record at the NSS does he not?? Thats not opinion

Bates has a better record at the NSS does he not?? Again thats not an opinion.

What nobody knows (which ive alluded to) is the fact Bates could have a shocker at the NSS this time and vice versa could fly in the Wolves match.

Im not trying to say Bates is better than Klindt.

Im trying to show one person on here that he is talking absolute garbage in saying Poole are weaker without Klindt at the NSS. There is not a shred of evidence to suggest this is true.

I suggest you look at their scores at the NSS and then without bias decide who you think is the better option at that track.

With regards to Josh at Poole i did point out he was a former Poole rider.......back in 2013 when he was either at number 4 or reserve.

His last 4 scores at Wimborne Road have been average. He is replacing a world class rider in Lindgren who, although Poole isnt his best track, still manages to score more than Josh has by quite some way.

Josh is riding in the number 1 position, he will do well to get near double figures.

Again Josh could have a stormer we dont know.

But again the facts at this stage are that Josh G isnt as strong a number one as Freddie Lindgren would have been

Yeh i can feel the bottom.. Appoligies for what. I wanted to find out for myself if it was true, so i did just that. Why should i appologies. Very few worth appologisings to on here to be honest, and those who are i know. I would expect all clubs to follow suit.

Anyway i hope you get hammered tomorrow night... ;)

You should apologise because you found it funny that there might be additional security at the meeting.

Given recent events you finding 'amusement' in it is quite frankly sick.

No i don't, i think its discusting whats happened in manchester and london, but there's nothing we can do about it, and no doubt it will happen again.. For your imformation, somebody else on this thread scoffed it as well so i had to find out for myself. Now go and pick on somebody else... :icon_smile_clown:

In fairness it's only the one person saying it. Despite the fact that the evidence is clear. Anyone can see that.

Klindt has a proven poor record at NSS whilst Bates scores well.

It's pretty decisive.

At the Abbey 7 out of 8 Thursdays no Robins home meeting. We raced Pirates mid April then only 1 meeting since then. Next meeting 15 June. Then we have 5 home meetings in 14 days end of August! A few will lose interest and do other things. Crazy fixture planning.

My last meeting was on 1st May and if tonight is rained off my next will be on 26th June. I did have a fruitless trip to Wolverhampton and spent a night in a Premier Inn as the meeting was rained off. I won't be going to Belle Vue. Poole have Leicester on 21st June but I have tickets for England v South Africa at the Rose Bowl that evening. Purchased about six months before the speedway fixtures came out.

My old mum claimed she took me to speedway as a babe in arms so I can tenuously claim to have been attending for nearly 70 years. I recently remarked to my wife that enough is enough and this, unless something radical happens in the winter, will be my final year. It probably won't be as it's happened before and she ultimately drags me down there again. The social part of speedway is the one great positive. Many nice people and good friends to chat to and put the world to rights, but as fans we are totally taken for granted by the people that run the sport.

If I'm still around in ten years time I'll go and watch it somewhere when it's an amateur sport and regained some credibility.

Well said, speedway is like a social club without the beer for me. As an ex Wimbledon fan, im a neutral at every meeting i attend. As a sport it's hard to see how it can survive. Weakened teams and falling crowds are a recipe for disaster. Most of my local tracks are now in the NL, so my days of wanting to see the 'star' riders are long gone.

Agreed cityrebel gaps between meetings are now the norm to allow for the doubling up and gp plus overseas league commitment availability.

It's 21st century speedway and the alternatives are put up, totally change league format or no speedway as I see it.

Rain not far off and heading in for start time. Hopefully it will blow through and we will see some racing. Heading off to the stadium shortly. Going to miss Klindt but hope Bates can step up and score some points. We are certainly weak at reserve tonight.

Think the word your looking for is weaker...not weak. Bates is the 3rd best number 6 in the league behind Klindt and Huchenbeck.

I would expect him to have the measure of Mark Riss on a track that Riss hasnt rode.

If we don't win by 8 points at least tonight then changes need to be made ASAP.

Grajczonek guesting for Lindgren is a blessing for us. Grajczonek is good but Freddie is on fire at the moment.

Andersen, Kurtz & Zengota should score 27 between them.

J. Holder & Newman should get 12 between them

Bates & Shanes should get 10 between them

Not sure you need changes as such but the Poole current 1-7 will certainly not win the league and could struggle to make top 4.

Poole is not a track that Masters and Thorsell ride that well

Wolves are certain in the top 4 and 3 from Rye House, Belle Vue, Kings Lynn and Poole will join them.

And we are certainly weak at Number 1.
