Tigerish
I can't find a schematic of this year's cup draw anywhere. Can anyone point me at it or post it on this thread, please?

sparks123
I thought the KOC was supposed to be run at the start of the season. Ipswich were in the semi final's on 1st April. Sheffield into semi-final on 1st June. _______ will therefore be in the semi final 1st August. Why has pressure not been put on teams to race this competition (If you haven't raced by a certain date both teams are thrown out the competition). Remind me again who Glasgow race against (Ipswich into semi final more than 2 months before Glasgow know who they are racing in the quarter final's).
DiamondGlory
We were lucky to get a rematch against Workington. We will struggle to beat Glasgow. Scunthorpe could possibly be an upset in the semis, but Ipswich, Edinburgh or Sheffield? No. Newcastle definitely won't win the KO cup this year. Glasgow are waiting on the winners of Newcastle & Workington which went to a replay. Makes you wonder why they don't use golden heats in the cup as they do in the play offs.
Islander15
Glasgow are waiting on the winners of Newcastle & Workington which went to a replay. Makes you wonder why they don't use golden heats in the cup as they do in the play offs. It should have gone to golden heats or some variation of that. When the ties are already home and away and each team races each other 4 times in the league anyway, another 2 meetings to split them is just excessive and causes hold-ups in the competition. SharpenRake
Glasgow had reserved 6 May for the quarter final but ended up with no meeting and a loss of continuity. We also had 17 June reserved should we have qualified for the semis, it is now listed as tbc so another potentially blank date. Have to agree with Sparks 123, there should be some deadline for matches to be completed, and GazC and Islander15, holding a replay is just daft.

TheScotsman
And we worked hard to get out of the competition to avoid any more fixture congestion. Managed it though.

From the rules this year SGB PREMIERSHIP & CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE KNOCK-OUT CUP All Meetings, including the Semi-Finals and Final are decided upon the aggregate score of both the home and away legs. In the event of a tie in aggregate, provided the 2nd leg took place before August 1st then the Tie will be replayed, thereafter the outcome of any tie will be determined by Golden Heats Format. So basically the rules are different depending on the timing of the match. meaning Newcastle could play Workington again and if they draw again provided the 2nd leg was before 1 August the match could be replayed again!!!!!! so we could have 3 semi-finalists known but we would still be waiting for the outcome of the quarter final when Glasgow takes on the winner of Newcastle v Workington. give me strength!!!!!! Lord Lucan
Haven't heard one single thing about any replay dates for the qualifying match between Comets and Newcastle since the original match ended? No idea what the hold up is but surely if the match has to be replayed then it should have been completed well before now, I'm pretty sure both teams had blank weekends in May so unless something serious regarding rider availability was at play then there were dates that could possibly have been used? There's a lot of matches this season and with rain offs likely, fixture congestion will be rapid so spare dates must be utilised wherever possible, going to be a long wait for the KO Cup to be settled again this season, started early but could still be finishing in October at this rate? That would be Sat 6th May and Sun 7th May I think you are alluding to (?). Don't know about Workington on the 6th, but we (Newcastle) were due to meet Redcar on the 7th, but the Diamonds promotion decided to postpone it due to the possibility of lack of staff to run the meeting, due to it being the last day of the Championship football season (Newcastle Utd were at home that day).

That's the weekend Steve, our programme shows nothing at all for that day so was clearly vacant, never heard/read of any issues surrounding availability of the stadium/riders so, dont understand why at least the first leg couldn't have been run, from memory it was a dry night so, good possibility?? Obviously you would have had issues for the second leg so we probably would still be looking for a date for that? With the quarter final still to have dates arranged and a very busy looking fixture list, this could take a bit of a Captain Oates to get sorted?? StevePark
was 6th may not the date the rugby ground who have first choice of venue held a pop concert remember workington sppedway plays 2nd fidle to the rugby club The only thing I can find is there's a concert there on the 20th May and the Comets switch to Sunday (against Edinburgh). I can't find anything for the 6th (which doesn't mean to say that there wasn't anything on that date), except Cookie was away in a GP Qualifier, which is why he missed the Friday (5th) meeting at Edinburgh. No explanation is given on the Comets website for a blank weekend on the 6th/7th (at least not that I can see).

That is correct Steve and it did take place on the 20th with the Edinburgh match switched to the Sunday!! If the GP Qualifier was on the Saturday of that weekend then that would probably explain why we didn't go for that date, no Cookie and not wanting to use any guest riders, just in case??
