Chris Holder Average Farce At Kings Lynn

Recommended Posts

Rolling averages were the answer and we had them but they got rid of them for the start of the current season.

Given the mess they made of the top league averages this season I can understand why they didn't use them this year but it has clearly proved what their benefit is.

Hopefully they will be used going forward.

SCB Can't argue with that haha

Maybe a rider can only drop a certain % off his starting average to stop teams building good sides mid season

But has his true average start of the following season

Example

Holder starts on 12.00 but can only fall 25% below that so if he averages 6/7 or whatever it is at present for team building he's a 9 minimum

If he averages 8.5 in real terms thats his true average for next season

Stops any manipulation to a degree but in holders case I think its just machinery and confidence

This is where real rolling averages work well. But the BSPA have messed it up with stupid formats and using PL averages.

I had already come up with weighted averages using EL figures for all riders and cooks have easily extended it to mean that they could have had weighted rolling averages by the BSPA preferred this 12+ average riders and PL averages and no rolling.

People are capable of making this work in all manor of ways. The BSPA just love to do things their own utterly stupid way

Yes, in the late 1980's / early 1990 IIRC

Was absolutely mental on a bike, scary AF

Does anyone else remember Thierry Hilaire at Milton Keynes? He made Roman Matousek look very benevolent on track. Or is the mix of medication swirling my mind?

With no rolling aves and new averages after 4 h and 4 a, then the promoters have had a field day strengthening up by " fiddling " their averages.

In this case it is more exaggerated due to Chris's high starting ave.

Bit if a sweeping statement, given that no 4 and 4 averages have been released yet in the Pl! Cate to name the promotions that have "had a field day."

Doyle was accused of fiddling his average, yet is 2nd in the averages. Holder and KK have been poor everywhere, and in KK case Poole are likely to be over 42 points so a high average would be much more useful than a low average. Any other riders been accused of deliberately dropping their average?

Tell me more about your way

Basically scb weighted rider averages from each meeting last year, depending on whether they rode as a hl a 2nd string or reserve. From their you could get a suitable multiplier for any rider who did not ride EL. And then apply another waiting factor to ensure that teams at the desired strength could be built to a 42 point limit.

Averages would have borne a true reflection of performance and we would not have had the current mess where point limit changes during the season and it seems the rules on request declarations allow you to build a side 15% stronger than the initial team building rules allowed.

According to the SGP website, Holder is struggling for speed this year !!!

'Chris Holder admits his mechanical troubles have weighed him

down this year as he battles to regain top speed for the Mitas

Czech SGP.'

Surely if it was an average lowering exercise he would have gone through the tapes or faked an ef instead of getting excluded on two minutes?

You would think so, but you're a clever chap whilst most speedway riders are not ...
