E I Addio
Jon Cook did not say all NL promoters were idiots - only that some were! Then he is only saying what the BSF have been saying for years.
TonyE
I don't like to think that our promoter considers all the other promoters to be "idiots" just because they objected to Paul's new average. If you look at it from their point of view, whatever method was used for the calculation, it was clearly inadequate as his early scores already demonstrate that he is a class act worth 10 point minimum in any meeting. Great for us if all we want is to beat all the opposition in to the ground. The league race will now be to see which "idiot" comes second ! Jon did not really explain the reason he called some promoters idiots, it is we that assume he was referring to the 'objectors' to Paul's average but he may well have been including other factors. Whatever methodology is applied in determining an average it is a rare event that it turns out to be accurate. Had Paul's comeback resulted in scores of 4 or 5 do you think the assessed average would have been lowered?
East End Fan
Well, Tony E...Every single person, including the management of Lakeside, were confident in the knowledge that in Paul Hurry, the team had included a rider capable of double figure scores. In fact he rode one meeting at the start of the season and did exactly that. That is why there was such an outcry by opponents and bewilderment from people like me as it was clearly an incorrect assessment. There was and is no way that he will score 4 or 5 unless there are exceptional circumstances. Paul was previously a top international rider, not a mediocre journeyman. I'm delighted that he is in our team, but I can understand the annoying side of it to others.
