Star Fever
Would you be reacting like this if say it was James Sargeants or Kyle Newmans van that broke down thus not giving them the opportunity.? Maybe the rules need changing i.e top 7 and 2 wildcards. i agree with that. But the current rules are there for everybody and wether it was Robert Lambert, Chris Harris, Craig Cook, Ashley Morris, Joe Jacobs or Max Clegg, the rules are there for everyone. You cant suddenly change them just because the rider in question is one of our better ones Actually yes I'd think it was unfair whoever the rider was ... the rule needs changing .... full stop. and while I'm moaning about the BSPA and their lack of support for Gb's up'n' coming future stars why do they bar them from competing in the Euro Ch'ship and the Euro Pairs? No doubt its because they didn't organise the events so won't make any Money from it !!? Edited June 17, 2017 by Star Fever

SPEEDY69
I think the Poles may have bent a few rules in the 60s-70's to ensure there up and coming got to places (meetings) perhaps they wouldnt normally. There were all sorts of stories about unlimited practice, preparing tracks to suit riders style, maybe they even pulled a few "tricks" to get their riders through to certain events. Whatever they dod it paid off. Ahh, but how many individual world champions have they had? And there's more home rounds for them now as well. OveFundinFan
Ahh, but how many individual world champions have they had? And there's more home rounds for them now as well. I'm pretty good at counting on one hand....so its 2. But, you got to be in it to win it. There are wild cards in loads of events, so why not the British Championship. Top 7 from each semi plus 2 wild cards. At the end of the day the two wild cards could end up being the 8th man in each semi, or someone else who missed out through injury, or other unexpected occurrence. Having an option does not mean you have to use it, but used wisely could produce a good result. g13webb
Facts, that the British Final is being run without 2 of the strongest riders needs to be sorted. Too late this year, but it wouldn't be too difficult to seed the top 8 riders straight to the final. After all its not as if we are overrun with class riders..... Personally I would like to see Craig Cook win tomorrow. Been riding now for some time and has more than proved his talent. Probably he stayed too long in the easier league, but if he has any ideas of making It to the top and ultimately into SGP, in need to be winning championships like this. Bomber and Nichol are experience campaigners but their time has gone. We need someone new to kick on to better things and Cookie would be ideal person to be British Champion.......
Gunner85
Many competitions use wild cards and it makes sense to join in. We seem to have a new bunch of young riders coming through.... they need to be encouraged to take on meetings in Europe before they venture in to European leagues. There are lots of individual meetings in Germany, Holland , France etc ....I am sure they would love to add some Gb talent to their competitions
Star Lady
Nothing against Craig Cook but I'd love to see Rory win just to see what angle the BSPA would put on an Aussie being the British GP wild card
Terry
Nothing against Craig Cook but I'd love to see Rory win just to see what angle the BSPA would put on an Aussie being the British GP wild card I initially thought there was no way they would give it to Rory if he won, but now I'm not so sure. They've given British wild cards to Crump and Gollob in the past.
Gunner85
Let us hope that we have a good entertaining meeting and a lot of people watching on BT sport. Good meeting last year even with rain during the last hour. BT sport is only a one year contract so we need them to be happy with the viewing figures. mikebv
Should be a decent (ish) crowd. Over 1000 tickets sold already. Holds about 3500 doesn't it so shouldn't look too embarrassing on TV... Decent weather should mean a reasonable 'walk up' crowd who decide to go tomorrow too.. 2000 wouldnt be a bad crowd I would suggest for such a standard of meeting at the admission charged.... eric i
Cardiff wildcard rule needs to be changed to.... highest rider excluding Rory. If Rory gets it are we going to see other riders applying for a British licence next year?
Midland Red
Imagine if eight riders are seeded next year, how many arguments will there be on here about who's in and who's not! Two semi-finals featuring the top 32 riders gives almost all the decent Brits a chance of reaching the British Final - so WHY CHANGE IT? Robert Lambert had his chance this season, but failed to qualify - no need to mess around with changing the rules of fair competition, or introduce seedings or wildcards They ALL (32) have the same chance Edited June 19, 2017 by Midland Red

mikebv
Grandstand holds 1850 South stand limited to 1200 this year re temporary stands. 2000 is two thirds full then almost.. Would look OK on TV depending on how many are in the Grandstand. Maybe they will 'upgrade' people like they did for us with Western Terrace standing tickets at the SWC to ensure the area most in view of the cameras looks full?
