Belle Vue V Swindon Friday 19th May

Recommended Posts

Enjoyed that :approve:

Bit slow starting but a couple of decent races half way through, particularly Smith trying to pass Wajtknecht in heat 12. Always nip and tuck, though.

Very important point from Bewley when he passed Williamson in heat 11.

Morris was unlucky. Got bumped in heat 9 by Sedgmen and then went out of it and dropped a chain in heat 15.

Very good to hear the enthusiasm from Robin Southwell over the mic, and looked a decent attendance to me.

One downer : get rid of that clown on the centre green. Amongst some pretty stiff opposition, he's just about the worst presenter in the land. Its made all the worse by the fact that Neil Drummond is rapidly becoming one of the best box men in the game - understated, knowledgeable and hitting the comments bang on.

Less said about simon barber the better. He's not liked at all around belle vue. How he's kept in the job God knows. Especially after his racist remarks and stupid innuendos about chase the aces big helmet. Not forgetting the cringworthy interview with Natalie a few week ago. Neill is great.

The meeting is how I expected. Some good race amongst some boring races. Track far to grippy early on in meeting which showed with some fast times.

Doyle was a class above. Would have been interesting if heat 15 was a 5 lap race. Bjerre was catching every lap.

Interestingly a few of our boys were using new engines which diddnt work out. Especially for cook who looked really slow

Jack Smith's race with Zak was brilliant stuff. Fair play to the youngsters.

Robin southwells speech was like something from braveheart. I loved it.

Fine effort by the Budgies tonight especially David Bellego who is really riding his socks off at the moment and is great to watch. Top performance from Jason again and solid stuff from Nick in a supporting roll he just ran out of luck in ht 15.

Sadly not much joy for Adam Ellis again - nothing's going for him at the moment.

Well done Robins, a well deserved point!

A good performance from Swindon and they deserved their point. Doyle was in a class of his own and Morris and Bellegoboth showed how they have improved.

The grippier track made passing more difficult in the earlier races although it obviously suited Steve Worral. Cook was unhappy with his engine but overall a good solid performance from all of the Aces. Smith may not have scored many points but was in the mix and as others have said his race with Zach showed he is coming out of his recent poor spell. 3 more points in the bag but now another long gap until the next Aces home meeting on the 9th June.

Kenny is on fire.I admit i was one that did'nt want him back at Lynn.Swap for Porsing and Lynn would be top.

Big up to him

I don't think KB would ride for Lynn again given all the adverse comments he received from his last stint. I'm pleased I wasn't one of those who questioned his obvious ability. He has proved me right when I said going to Belle Vue would be a dream move... and Yes, we having KB in place of Porsing would have been an excellent choice......

Hind sight is a wonderful thing......

I agree with your comment re the track being far to grippy to me it was the same for the Somerset meeting and the racing is not as good and our boys seem to ride it better when its slick. If you look back to the P C Memorial DVD the track was much slicker and we all know how good the racing was for that meeting so why change what works.Track slicker for the Poole meeting please.

He was far, far from on fire at Lynn and wouldn't/couldn't give one iota of explanation about why. That's why he peed most people off as we knew he could do better.... he was the epitome of frustration! The management stuck with him all year so he had more than ample time to turn things around but no.

It is starting to look like visiting teams will always have a chance at BV..

Most will come with riders who have a liking for the track and many now have had quite a few visits...

The three GP riders obviously ride the track very well, but you can add most Aussies to that list and foreign riders with a long track/grass track background particularly seem to enjoy the wide open spaces...

Riders like Hougaard, MPT and King have also had some very good meetings there..

In fact, many riders seem to 'punch above their weight' at the NSS, often winning races and scoring points that belie their average..

Most teams in the League have I would say enough riders for at least six to seven heat wins at BV which leaves the Aces only around eight or nine left to win and build up any heat advantages.

Such is the fairness of the track it means the scoreline in most meetings remains close for the majority of the match and obviously as most know by now, delivers some fantastic racing.

The only downside with so many riders coming who like the track is when it comes to the play offs in a 'head to head', it may prove our undoing..

Certainly keeps the fans well entertained though, virtually every week...

Bjerre is in the right environment for him to flourish, it was Lynn back in 2011 when he was sublime but I don't think it would suit him now. Everything is suiting him right now, fair at to him and Belle Vue for the signing.

Great point for the Robins really pleased with that Bjerre is going great guns at the moment fair play to him for sticking at it over the years.Bjerre in a way is like Doyley both have had horrendous injuries over the years but both must be mentally tough to have overcome them.Bjerre also has always had great kit so this superb Belle Vue track really suits him i believe he has a chance of getting back in the GP series again this year.

I don't get this biggest and safest thing.

Tai and Holder as examples say that the polish tracks are the safest and brutish tracks are dangerous but where have the recent deaths (including Lee) occurred on??

This is no slight on the NSS by the way, which is an exceptional race track.
