speedibee
Think I'm beginning to understand the reasons you keep having issues with your neighbours. Well Hodgy , I think you may well be correct , since me having a different opinion on coming home to find a shared manhole which was flush to my slabs had suddenly grown 3 courses, and was now sticking 1 foot above ground so as to enable my lovely neighbours to build up the shared entry by a foot and level their front garden with the back , and in the process removing my gate and sawing a foot off the bottom so it wasn't obstructed by the manhole ,and when in it's closed position it had a 1 foot gap underneath , I see your point ,me mentioning the fa ct does make me a bad and beligerant neighbour , I suppose what I should have done is said to them ,oh that looks lovely with your new block paving and the raw edges of the godfathers that is preventing me getting my bin up and down ,don't worry about that I'll just call the council and ask for a smaller bin , and my daughters boyfriend can leave his motorbike out in the street I'm sure it will be safe enough there, wouldnt want to see things any other than your way !! allthegearbutnaeidea
To be fair Bewley doesn't have much to do with Vatcher imo but Brennan has been riding in the British Championships for his level for the past few years which is run by Vatcher and that has no doubt helped him as a rider... Quite agree, Bewley is the one exception in all the list of riders mention in this thread that wasn't a BYC product. The rest have progressed thought the BYC that Neil controls, and controls very well. speedibee has his own problem as his lad is an older rider and Neil tried to make common rule for all Junior leagues such as the MDL and the NJL which I have a young team in. Neil wanted to have each team to have 2 500's and 2 125's in each team such as our NJL. This brings in youngsters earlier, and the new bunch of riders coming though the under 15 age are generally developed by that team structure. The MDL with speedibee's son, wanted to ride with 4 500s to make sure they got the rides. All about looking after his lad not rider development.
PHILIPRISING
THE current crop of riders, including Dan Bewley, would still benefit enormously by spending a day with top class former riders (they have more time than those still racing). The BSPA should be looking to have a day at the NSS with (in my opinion) people like Mark Loram and Kelvin Tatum (who is also hugely knowledgeable on the mechanical side), to name but two, who can iron out flaws in their technique that will eventually come back to haunt them. It would not be a costly exercise but one that could bring rich dividends. If more money was available then arrange a short trip to Denmark to spend time with Erik Gundersen. As they progress media training and how to go about securing and maintaining sponsorship should also be on the agenda. Back in the day when I managed to acquire an impressive sponsorship package for Tatum when he was at Wimbledon and later Coventry, the wise words of Ivan Mauger, whose meticulous attention to detail (such as having sponsors logos on his left shin because that was so often captured in photos) was extraordinary, always rang in my ears. "It is one thing getting a sponsor but quite another keeping them," he told me.

Speedibees' lad would be World Champion by now if it weren't for those foulmouthed Aussie scum and now these bloody kids.
moxey63
"It is one thing getting a sponsor but quite another keeping them," he told me. So true. Same can be said about supporters on the terraces. They are a form of sponsor and often get taken for granted.
Bavarian
Some experience on the Contient would do the British youngster good, too. See how much Robert Lambert has benefitted from his time in Germany. Send a Young England Team on tour to Germany, Czech, or Poland. This would be great !

Agreed - but how much would it cost to do that? Speedway seems to be cash strapped at the moment.
Trees
The youngsters perhaps need to carve their own way to the top like all riders have to.
