Trees
I stand by what i said you are still a hypocrite support Darcy to the hilt being a blue noser yet crap all over Woffinden double standards. And another point why is Pete Adams someone i respect helping him he cant be all bad. I don't get your reasoning. Darcy always rode for his country and always rode over here, and still would be, unlike Tai!

Guest
At last! What all TW admirers on this thread have been waiting for: https://johnblakebooks.com/tai-woffinden-hb.html I especially like this comment from the Publisher's preview: "His autobiography provides an eye-opening insight into the life of one of speedway's most beloved stars." If he's on the end of his phone for advice that would be a good start, which maybe he is re Poland and Sweden.
chris4gillian
Anyone who thinks tai should be involved in helping British youngsters are off their rocker. Tai is a liability to youngsters and it's clear he doesn't care about British speedway or British fans. Still banging your drum I see...so very sad. I think you'll find Tai's feelings are the exact opposite, he cares hugely and has publicly stated as such on numerous occasions. But don't let facts get in the way of your tiresome crusade. So does he want to teach the youngsters? To get themselves plastered in tatooes? To use expletives when speaking live on TV? To show how to treat British Speedway league by thumbing his nose at it? To show contempt for British speedway fans by refusing to ride in the British Championships? To show further contempt by refusing to ride for TeamGB in the SWC? The guy hasn't got anything to offer British youngsters other than how not to do it. Sure hes a great rider on a bike but it ends right there. Neil Vatcher is doing a great job, young lads are progressing and We are starting to see young talent come through. No need whatsoever for Woffinden to be involved in anything to do with the sport in this country. The guy's made himself a pariah so why on earth would British speedway bother to do anything in return? Its a real shame that a British world champion has snubbed his nose at Great Britain. But you reap what you sew. Or maybe he wants to... Teach the younger riders how to handle pressure Teach the younger riders more about set-ups Teach the younger riders how to handle the bikes on different size tracks Teach the younger riders how to adjust their riding style in different conditions Teach the younger riders what it's like to ride abroad The list goes on and on. WTF has his tattoos etc. got to do with things? Sweet FA that's what. It's incredible that the minority (yes that's exactly what it is as Tai still has thousands and thousands of UK fans and supporters - proven at Cardiff year after year!) still go on and on and on about Tai giving the UK and Team GB a miss. It's his prerogative and choice so grow up and move on. I'd LOVE it if he turned up at Poole - that would seriously pi$$ you off Shovlar!
Steve Shovlar
I see you are back trying to defend Woffinden. Not many left now wanting to do that but your perogative. Most have seen the way he has treated British speedway with distain and have made their minds up on the guy. And yes you are right, if he turned up at Poole it would certainly P me off, though start to put things right with a return to the country that taught him how to ride a bike.

Sadly for you, ten folk on an internet forum isn't most. Once again, the test will come at Cardiff, if he is booed, a la Nicki Pedersen, you'll have a point. If however he gets the biggest ovation of the introductions, then you're talking nonsense. Care for a wager as to which reaction he gets? As for defending him, nothing to defend. He's not the first rider to stop racing for his country (Nicholls, Richardson) nor will he be the last. Not riding in the UK? Far rather him be honest than take the urine like Holder and KK do. Holder and KK aren't British, Nichols and Richardson did actually ride here and both had a longer history of representing us in SWC events. teaboy279
Funny how the dribblers are going after Tai, you gonna write rubbish about #rico as well or Scott. All have/had similar problems with the British hierarchy of speedway and all have made themselves unavailable. Yet Tai is a bit more "street" and has tattoos (which I don't like personally but that's my problem not his) and has used bad language on TV a couple of times. And he is described as a Yobbo or a foreigner. Tai is very approachable, has anyone slagging him off on here actually had the balls to go ask him that his gripes are? I have asked him and could not disagree with any of his points made. Tai is willing to invest money, time, and expertise on young brits but rather then support Tai or even just let him get on with it off his own back. They want him to jump through hoops it seems.

It doesn't necessarily follow that Tai would be a brilliant mentor or coach, there have been top performers in all sports who weren't successful in that way. I would agree that he deserves a try but it should be within the framework set by those who are already doing a pretty fair job, if that means "jumping through hoops" then so be it. teaboy279
I don't know this as fact, but I suspect he would jump through hoops if the commitment was there from the powers that be.

They have commited to Neil Vatcher who is doing an excellent job with the youngsters. He has gone on record saying that nearly everything he has asked for he has got. Perhaps Woffinden should contact Neil Vatcher and offer his services. Neils in charge of the kids.

Are you seriously telling me Neil Vatcher can do it all on his own? he has not got a magic wand he could do with all the help he can get.And by the way this is not a swipe at Neil a decent passionate man but he could with any help from ex riders.

The system is working and riders are coming through. More could be done granted but we are on a very limited budget compared to Poland. Its just the way it is. We don't have unlimited track time, neither do we have unlimited finances to spend on the youngsters. I have often wondered whether the bspa should apply to the Sports Council for funding.

This system for me is not good anough and there are not endless kids coming through.Even a bloody talented lad like Bewley can only average 4.5 in the Prem and 6 in the Champ a massive jump from junior speedway. BWitcher
Holder and KK aren't British, Nichols and Richardson did actually ride here and both had a longer history of representing us in SWC events. Why should he ride here? Would you work somewhere for longer hours and a fraction of the pay? If so, criticise all you like. I know the answer though!
