Davey Watt Retires

Recommended Posts

This is a thread regarding a rider who has served the sport well retiring from the sport.

You've chosen it to have a pop at him for something from 15 years ago but haven't got the balls to state what.

TBF, ask yourself why IOW drop a young Aussie after one season. Then read Tsunamis post (and we know how Tsunami rarely has anything bad to say about riders) and then ask Oxford fans what they thought.

Frankly the guy could moan for Australia when it come to tracks which is impressive as Shields, Ward, Schlein and Holder have all raced speedway.

Also , as im sure scb will confirm, back in the days of the nyc at Newport when the field was always competitive and riders had to be turned away from riding such was the demand, he turned up one year and completely took the piss. Him and adam shields i think.

Always seemed good with teams though but if the track had a bit of rain on it you could forget it.

Correct. Over the years I've seen a few piss take performances from Shields and Watt. The sport is no poorer for their absence.

...unfortunately I can't answer that one personally as I had stopped going to speedway by then.

Davey Watt was generally woeful for us but he did put in a couple of good performances.

Bit like Craig Boyce who always did well at Oxford till he signed for us

Must've been the lack of a sea view affecting them

I have no problem with riders having a run of bad form but once it's the norm they have to go.

Rye House made the correct sporting and business decision when they dropped DW

Ricky Wells scores have proved that

I hope Davey goes onto have a happy life

At least he rode competitively which is more than us keyboard warriors can say

Davey was a very good rider for us. But he's had his issues in the last couple of years..

TBF give me 7 riders who have a whinge about the track but add 2pts to their average and I'll take it.. and the league title.
