salty
Always glad when a rider can walk away from the sport in good health at a time of their own choosing.
BWitcher
forgive myignorance but why the animosity He rode 37 matches for Newcastle in his second season in the country, averaged 8.00. Decent return, seems to have upset some up North though and they've held a long grudge, 15 years... Good servant to the sport, guested for Wolves on a few occasions and did well. Sad the way things petered out at the end but he's still in one piece. Best of luck in the future.
Garry1603
Great servant to the sport and appears to be a good guy. In the event of the tragedy in Poland at the weeked, let's celebrate a good career and be thankful that he has come out of it healthy and with the respect of most fans. Hope you stay in the sport Davey in some way and thank you for the entertainment!

BWitcher
Not at Newcastle. Doesn't seem to have been an issue elsewhere.. perhaps the problem was the management.
Wackie
I remember him p!ssing Tim Sugar off at Smallmead when guesting for the Racers once too. Not much ruffled Tim, but Watt's refusal to ride a heat 15 decider on a 'damp' track certainly wound Tim up.

This is a thread regarding a rider who has served the sport well retiring from the sport. You've chosen it to have a pop at him for something from 15 years ago but haven't got the balls to state what.

BWitcher
Yup, can't say I'll miss him from the sport following that! Not that I'm one to hold a grudge "peein down now, track is like an ice rink" said updates on that night after heat 14 which was 5 seconds slower than heat 13. Seems that is a little more than a 'damp track'.

Seems that is a little more than a 'damp track'. Oh come on BWitcher, we all know what Watt was like with wet tracks. but it didn't stop the 2 BV riders or the Racer giving it a go, or was deemed bad enough for the ref to call a halt to the meeting! I've no recollection of who the other riders were and am not sad enough to trawl back through 10 years of updates to find out! To wind Tim up enough to publically vent his anger about Watt over the PA system there was obviously more than went on in the pits than we on the terraces knew about that night. To say it was out of character of Tim to react that way is a bit of an understatement. Edited April 27, 2017 by Wackie
Pinny
Also , as im sure scb will confirm, back in the days of the nyc at Newport when the field was always competitive and riders had to be turned away from riding such was the demand, he turned up one year and completely took the piss. Him and adam shields i think. Always seemed good with teams though but if the track had a bit of rain on it you could forget it.
