Beowulf
There was terrace talk last night that for this fixture Jacob Thorssell will be missing having been selected for the European Championship (or whatever it's called). If true, there would be no facility available other than an NL rider. The management have got to be given credit for the recent team changes that they made that seems to have improved the team no end, but a lot of that benefit could be thrown away by losing to the Stars. It is always disappointing to lose at home but even more galling when you don't have a full team, and that isn't due to injuries. So, does anyone know the facts of the matter ? stevebrum
I'd heard that is the case too. May as well postpone then using the Poole excuse 'because it affects their business'. Let the lodgers have the day to themselves.
g13webb
Don't worry about it, especially with track specialist Rory on board I cant imagine you'll have many problems ... If the unthinkable did happen and we manage to beat you, you will have an excuse in place already.....
Perton Wolf
Why do Speedway GB still not recognise the SEC as an acceptable reason for missing a meeting, allowing R/R?

Yep makes things hard when a top man is missing we nearly blew it against Leicester with Bjerre missing and having to use Bewley and Smith in 3 of his rides. But looking on the bright side you are more able to cope now you have made the team changes with Scornick Glegg and a NL rider you could have been in real trouble. Now i think the team will be able to cope. Perton Wolf
I'm putting an early guess in of Cradley's best rider round Monmore being our NL rider. Due to the double header and all that......

And all NL teams are riding that day so would have to be Cradley or Lakeside rider, can't understand why we can't use r/r
BWitcher
And all NL teams are riding that day so would have to be Cradley or Lakeside rider, can't understand why we can't use r/r Because the SEC is a glorified Individual meeting, not an FIM event. Good luck with that. Cradleys top 3 are not eligible.Nor are Lakesides top 3. I'd just use R/R and let him suck up the 28 day ban.

It's ridiculous going into a meeting with our best home performer with no facility. Call it off CVS.
Perton Wolf
If we can't even use somebody like Dan Bewdley then it makes no sense to hold the meeting on a cramped double header bank holiday.

Call it off CVS. Lindgren not riding then? The figures on the official site are wrong for Thorssell. They have him averaging 10.67 at home from two matches.. takes some doing that when you only got 7 from 4 in one of them! They've given him three extra points from somewhere. Overall average is wrong too. Edited April 25, 2017 by BWitcher
mikebv
Again, more nonsense... Simply, every British Speedway contract that gets signed pre season should stipulate that the rider signing it must make himself available for every meeting, except rearranged ones that clash with other FIM sanctioned meetings, (own countries leagues and FIM qualifiers etc).. British Speedway has to protect itself and ensure fans don't feel short changed and therefore ultimately not bother attending meetings that become discredited... A rider should be given the choice before the season starts, earn the odd 'one off' pay night riding in non FIM recognised meetings or bank a full seasons worth of pay nights riding in Britain... If he chooses the former, he forfeits the latter..

mrss
Wolves fans needn't worry. I am sure the Stars can mess this up and come away with nothing.

Don't think its a case of Lynn "messing it up".Please explain.....Wolves will still win.To strong at home for the Stars even without Thorssell. stevebrum
The point remains. . We shouldn't be racing on a date when a key team member is missing particularly to a competition we can't have a facility for. Stars should be coming to plunder points.
