Will Having Two Pointers In All Leagues Be Good For England In The Long Run.?

Recommended Posts

With all leagues now having young British riders in the side is that good longterm for England.? I think so Perks has started well in both leagues Hume/Mountain have shown they have longterm futures Phillips is steady and others have shown glimpses (ie) Shuttleworth/JPB.Smith struggling at Glasgow has surprised me but he will come good he has done well anough for Belle .Vue having more rides gaining exsprience will benefit these lads.Give it a few months the likes of Jenkins/Brennan could also get guest bookings and chances both have bright futures the future is looking brighter for England.

Cant do any harm IMO and must save the clubs money from recruiting 2nd rate foreigners .

I think he means 'the national team' more than anything but you're quite right, it should have been written as Britain, until Wee Jimmy gets her way and you are left with a two team league.

But what a league!!

And we might let Berwick join in like we do in the footie because we always beat them!!

I think Ivan Mauger once said the best way of learning is to ride against riders who are better than you are. I'm not going to argue with that!

I think it will do the Brits good. Many will fall by the wayside but there will be a few who benefit from the experience.

I think the current crop of youngsters look promising. Let's hope so.

it's all a good thing until they progress enough to get an ok average and then they'll be deemed as unsuitable compared to a foreigner

Agree with the first part, but not the second. The cost of foreigners, and the youth system in place now should 'feed' teams for sometime to come.

I hope you are right Tsunami. :t:

At the moment as far as British Speedway is concerned - the only way is up!!

I see a wealth of talent coming through myself

it is vital that there is a clear route from 3rd tier to 2nd tier - quite a few 3rd tier riders have been there a little too long imo

it would mean moving some second tier riders out - either to the top tier and ending double down or limit the number of foreigners

and before anyone says anything you can limit foreigners by group consent

Agree with everything you said in the Championship who is the best foreign newcomer Pickering maybe ? Unless they are of say Pickering ability or better no foreign rider should get a place over a englishman.

'should' is the word I am worried about .. there's plenty of good young British talent coming through, and it will need them to have priority for them to progress.

at the Youth Championships, both 250/500 & 125/150 classes are producing good riders that will get better with the right backing .. and I really hope they get that backing

Who do you see that will go on to at least be good Champioship riders?

If the likes of those come into the Championship when they are ready and still have a full NL campaign that has to be good.It is looking better for the future i just hope clubs give these lads chances and time.

I'm sure there are clubs looking at each and every one right now

Certainly is Steve

Luke Harrison, Jordan Jenkins, Tom Brennan, Jack Parkinson, Archie Freeman, Woodhull twins Ben and Luke, Kean Dicken, James Hitchens, Carl Basford, Henry Atkins, are all looking good to join or have already joined the riders you named.

It's a good idea until the rules get bent and you get Australians with about 10 years Premier League experience sneaking into a number 7 racejacket .
