stevebrum
WHAT A DIFFERENCE 2 CHANGES MAKE!! Well that was all a little too easy. On paper had all the hallmarks of an absolute classic. Track was good again and grippy with some fast times early on although a wet and patchy part on the first bend caught a few out early on, particularly Rory who skated across it and couldn't turn. The racing was a mixed bunch with some thrilling battles coupled with strung out heats with the Rockets mostly outclassed. Were the Rockets a bit poor or the Wolves that much better? I'd go with the latter. All of the usual Monmore suspects had their moments but in truth got out ridden by a better Wolves team. Some of the close racing was top notch with heat 15 being a 4 way battle throughout whilst heat 13 was sublime mostly due to the outstanding skill of fast Freddie. Surprised the crowd wasn't bigger but the freezing Arctic wind and weather probably cost a few attendees. Hopefully the B fixture will be the classic it promises. In other news ....assuming the comments in tonight programme are referring to the Riss for Clegg change "The club are close to a further team switch, but things are not advanced enough for any announcement in that regard prior to the print deadline for this programme". Clegg was still listed in the Wolves team. The only confusion with that wasn't the 2 rider switch confirmed at the same time? So maybe another change ??? The changes are clear for anyone to see - Wolves are a force. WOLVES FREDDIE - pure class. An absolute pleasure watching a rider at the top of his game. His partnership with Howarth is a huge strength. His team riding second to none and even when behind a huge threat for victory. 5/5 KYLE - 3 excellent victories with Freddie including a bring the house down ride in heat 10. Heat 8 got out ridden by Robson. 3.5/5 RORY - an 8 point debut is more than satisfactory. Can ride Monmore well as proved tonight. 3.5/5 JACOB - not quite the usual home force and wimped out on a couple of occasions. 2.5/5 SAM - three classy wins including having to work for those 3's. Top scorer and well earned it. 4/5 MARK - I was hoping for more points than Clegg but couldn't have dreamed of such a battler. Beat Kennett (although I would have tonight) and then outfoxed Wells in the 14th. What a debut. 3.3/5 MOTM Nathan - more than did his job in heats 2 and 4, a good race win in the 2nd too. 2.5/5 RYE Kennett - pathetic just doesn't cut it. Never looked like scoring. Never thought I'd see a worse number one at Monmore than KK so step forward Ed. 0/5 Robbo - always a pleasure to watch Robbo at the Green. Besides heat 1 quality and 110% 4/5 Harris - looked painfully slow until his last 2 heats where he looked much quicker. 2/5 Wells - a game of 2 halves for Ricky. Superb in the first 2 even tho he got out battled by Masters and then largely disappeared despite being on the pace. 3/5 Nicholls - heat 4 apart Scott was mostly owned by wolves riders. 2.5/5 Clegg - nothing changes. Beat no one. 0.5/5 Perks - got owned by Greaves initially then had the flyer of all flyers in heat 8 but rode a great race to deny Howarth.2/5 Updates may be wrong as wrong colours given for Rye riders. Robson won heat 15 with Harris 3rd.
westhamboy66
After an ok start to the season we really came down to earth with a bump. Completely outclassed by wolves who i'm sure would love to race us every week. 13 points from the heat leaders and the worst display from a number one i have ever seen. Edward Kennett cut a sad figure wobbling around nowhere near the third place rider in any of his four races. Chris Harris looked like he left his bikes in Poland on Sunday and bought a donkey home to ride tonight. Ok so he rarely makes the gate but he was completely lacking in any sort of pace. Scott had one decent ride and that was about it. Stuart Robson head and shoulders above his team mates and when he came out to race was about the only time i smiled on really cold night. Great Journey home with a 50 MPH restriction for most of the M1 and just to round it off was a junction 29 closure on the M25. Well done to Wolves though you can only beat what is in front of you.
hyderd
What a difference 2 changes make, if all 7 stay fit as do Belle Vue's 1-7 then a repeat of 2016 is likely, including the result.

Fourentee
Rye's press release after the match said that Kennett (and he's normally very good at Monmore) had been suffering from a migraine.
BWitcher
I'd certainly never class Kennett as being 'very good' at Monmore, really not sure where people have got that impression from. More, 'ok' if track conditions suit. Made a very tidy sum from Under 6pts at 2.30 with Bet365 last night on him. As a no 1 against this Wolves line up he was always going to struggle to score many pts.

Well if that was the case he should of withdrawn from the meeting, for safety reasons.

marko
There is a fine line between putting on a brave face and riding through a bit of pain and riding in no fit state to the point your no use to the team and the fans, it's a selfish attitude. Back in the day Kennett was the default Monmore guest (home and away sides) but perhaps at my advancing age his performances are taking on something of a roseate hue.
Ben91
Rye's press release after the match said that Kennett (and he's normally very good at Monmore) had been suffering from a migraine. There were no other meetings last night, plenty of guest options out there. Or R/R would have scored more.

Going back a bit further, these are the ones I found on speedway updates. 3 from 4 for Lakeside in 2015 2 from 4 for Birmingham in 2014 5+1 from 4 for Swindon in 2013 5 from 6 and 4 from 4 in 2012 for Coventry. Riding at No 1 against a very strong Wolves top five, 0 is about right Edited April 25, 2017 by BWitcher

Apparently he arrived with the migraine; it may have come on quite late. Don't know if RR would have been permissible by then or whether he just decided to give it a go and hope for the best. Falcon Hammer
Don't know what happened v Belle Vue, but there was some excellent racing last night. If it's like that every week there won't be any complaints Seem to remember Eddie complaining about migraines last season as well
semion
He is a brave boy if he rode with one of those. As a sufferer myself im amazed he could even be in a fit state to get his gear on.

It's only Aces fans moaning about the racing probably because they lost.
Rayleigh
Cut Eddie some slack here please, I will take it as gospel about the migrane, remember 28 points out of 30 in the last two meetings, in matches that had no margin for error. Look forward to the next meeting when he can shut up all the doubters.
