Popular Post False dawn
I find the delay before heat 15 in most meetings I've attended of late, very annoying. Yes the team managers have to choose their riders (we've done that 10 minutes earlier) and choose the gates (my excel spreadsheet would tell them that a few heats earlier). So is it time to set a maximum wait? I don't find it exciting or the sense of anticipation increased by the wait. Just get on with it please.

False dawn
How long does it take to choose two from seven?Well bloody ages, is the answer. And if last night is anything to go by, the top scorer doesn't get a look in. Bizarre!

Just one more annoying delay in meetings that take forever to finish. Perhaps one day promoters will realise they're even starting to irritate long standing fans now.
waytogo28
The idea is to "let the excitement build" or so I have been told but that means that team manager's lose sight of the score and wether Heat 15 will make any real difference ( unless it is a "decider" ). Best to give up and set off for home, as a well beaten side ( be it home or away ) are hardly going to bother to make a race of it are they? One day they will have so long a gap between heat 14 and 15 that, if it is not a meeting decider, it would serve them right if they came out to an empty stadium.

False dawn
How about..... Get the team managers to tell the ref their fixed selections and gates. Then they could be interviewed telling us their logic. With no opportunity for change, the opposing side could not change their minds. Maybe then we could understand some of the inexplicable choices we see on an all to frequent basis.

scaramanga
ive been saying this for years ive actually been at a meeting when it was around 20 mins between heat 14 and 15 personaly 5 mins after heat 14 results are announced the ref should have the word then MAX another 5 mins for them to be either under 2mins warning or under orders last thing you want after a cold night of speedway is to be kept waiting for last heat especially if your team has had a bad night
Paulco
It's more the announcing that annoys me , doing texting for the updates site can be a pain when riders are making their way onto the track before the announcer has told us the line up .

I'd like to know why Coventry only had one rider in heat 15 of the Peterborough match after hanging around for ages.

TWELVE minutes. As I asked earlier - how long does it take to choose two Riders from Seven? Most of the time your 'Number One' goes out in Heat 15 followed by one from six. Can't be that hard for goodness sake. I still contend that twelve minutes is too long to be standing freezing your bollox off in March, April or October. ruffdiamond
Whatever happened to consideration for your Public/Customers?and you being neither of them but have to agree, it sometimes takes for ages to sort out and it can't be really difficult to do. unless the managers are just trying to 'out-fox' each other ??? The Third Man
Said the same at Sheffield last night, both teams basically had to chose two riders from three, Sheffield should have known their two after heat 13, peterboro maybe waiting for Starke in heat 14, but then two minutes after the end of the race should have done it Edited April 21, 2017 by The Third Man
IronScorpion
Even more irritating when the riders chosen have not been out in heat 14. Just a quick grade and get on with it.

Hawk127
Why not forget Heat 15 and nominated riders. It is all a farce adds nothing to the drawn out processional stuff that the average punter puts up with until now. Will those running the meetings stop padding it out and just get on with the racing. Meetings where the average race time is one minute give or take ten to twenty seconds, why does it take two hours? For example if it says a 7.30 start then racing should start at that time not all the fluffing about and racing commences at 7.45. The average race goer has had enough of intermittent entertainment and in this day and age of quick instant no hanging about information, data and results, speedway meetings at a a snails pace hack people off and is in any wonder you cannot attract younger punters who have the attention span of a gnat. Which promoter is going to have the balls to actually stop wasting time? I will not hold my breathe for a response. ✌️✌️️✌️️

At the Peterborough v Ipswich match I'm sure they got the blade out as well between heats 14 and 15. Edited April 21, 2017 by Gemini
