No problems weather wise tomorrow so we`re all good to go.

I still cant see anything other than a home win, Berwick are just stronger than Scunthorpe, end of. Yes the inclusion of Riss at reserve is a good move, and yes Scunthorpe put in a good performance last Saturday at Workington but I dont see them repeating that tomorrow night.

Another tight one in prospect tonight I reckon. On paper you would think Berwick have the upper hand amongst heat leaders, Bridger and Vissing should score well tonight. Scunthorpe have a bit of depth about them though, Michael Palm Toft is a cracking rider and Carl Wilkinson has been round Shielfield enough times to know the quickest route. Bringing in Mark Riss will also help Scunthorpe, he scored well for Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago.

Forecast for a decent day, rain yesterday but I think that might have helped the track as we've never had any for a while. There will no doubt be a drop off in crowd levels tonight as Scunthorpe, understandably, won't bring nearly as many travelling fans as Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Hopefully the racing will be up to the standard it's been so far this season.

Here's to the first win of the season.

What happened to Riss? and what is the rules on 7 day rule? As Perry was here last week? I'm unsure on it

Rule was amended a few years ago. Now only refers to guest performances i.e. rider can ride for his own team, then guest 7 days later. BUT he can't guest at the same track two weeks running. Unless it's for the Home No 1.

All the best

Rob

scunny twitter page says same, so why no Riss? and Josh doubtful with whiplash

Probably got a better offer!!!

That's my plans changed for the day! After an enjoyable day at Sheffield watching the snooker, I was looking forward to travelling up the A1 with the prospect of an entertaining meeting & a chance of an away win. R/R for Josh meaning anyone could take his rides, our top 5 looking solid without having the big no1 & Riss as the best reserve out there for Wallner was an opportunity not to miss. Now, it will be in front of my computer watching the updates. Good luck the Scorpions.

We have hardly won a meeting up here, but we have had some really good racing at all of the meetings, to be honest the best racing in a very long time consistently. It's not always about winning, get your back side up to Berwick, good racing with some of the in best fans in the sport

Only the rule book nerds will have heard of this, too many rules that ordinary speedway supporters don't know that is killing speedway

I met some of your great fans 4 years ago at the PLRC at Sheffield & they said to get my arse up there too.

It is just that if r/r is in use & one of our top 5 is having a mare, we have not got a top reserve to give us a chance. With Riss scoring well for Edinburgh & guest appearances & now being snapped up by Wolves, shows that he is a rider in form. A 3 to 3 1/2 hour journey home, even after a narrow defeat but being entertained would not bother me. I just feel, now, it will not be close, possibly 57-33ish.

I do know it is not all about winning as we have suffered 2 narrow defeats already this year but we are missing our decent reserve & being out scored in that area.

I have travelled to Sheffield & Kings Lynn(old EL) these last 2 years, hoping to see decent racing only to be disappointed on numerous occasions.

This season at Berwick

Tom Perry 5+1 (5 races)

Mark Riss 6+2 (7 races)

Not much between the riders at Berwick this season (shouldn't stop you going anyway).

Not going to lie around Berwick there isn't a lot of difference between M Riss and Perry, Tom rode for us at the end of last year and was flying. Mark in better form though

Not much between Riss and Perry.

As Balderdash has mentioned, we've not had the home results, but there has been massive changes in the whole setup, and the racing has been consistently excellent.

Our team has struggled to find it's form so far, this might be the right time to catch us, if you're looking for an away win!
