Drew up a record of 12 of the best British riders that i saw ride. There British Final and World Final records very interesting for me.No order BF record in ( brackets).Nigel-Boocock.(13)/8 Eric-Boocock. (8)/3. Terry- Betts (8)/1 Malcolm Simmons (10)/3 Martin Ashby (10)/1 Ray Wilson (10)/4 Dave Jessup (13)/6 Michael Lee (7)/6 Kenny Carter (5)/3 Peter Collins (12)/8 John Louis (12)/4 Chris Morton (14)/7.

Jessup and Morton had outstanding records with Ashby,E..Boocock,T.Betts well underachieving.

In defence of some of those 70s riders, in some years only 4 riders could progress from the British final, whereas in the 80s it was always at least double that.

Surely based on those stats though you'd have to say Simmo under achieved in making only 3 world finals?

He certainly did,i thought in 75/76 77 Simmo along with Ivan/Ole/ PC,Jansson,Lee,Michanek,Crump were in the group of top riders in the world and to be mentioned in that company shows just how good he was only Three world finals criminal really. Edited April 15, 2017 by Sidney the robin
