Kent Kings V Mildenhall (ch) Good Friday 14/4/17

Recommended Posts

Think this is going to be a tight one. Top 4 from both sides look pretty even so think the match will be swung on the tail. Never seen Ruddick or Woods go that well at Central Park but with Jenkins the Fen Tigers have a sting in their tail. Can the combined efforts as Clifton & Andrews keep them at bay as i fear its too early for Spooner to contribute much?

Tbf and it is only practice but Spooner has looked as quick as Andrews and Rowe and he don't seem to jump off the bike like some kids, so don't expect a passenger in young Alex.

Looking at the guests

Mountain goes very well at our place but often seems to cop bad luck (not least at the under 19s a couple of years back.)

Halsey is also very quick at our place tends to win four races but has a spectacular crash in between.

Armstrong always hits double figures and when he traps not many get passed him at central park.

Danno will hope to come back and score a hatfull and will fancy taking points off of all his counterparts.

Sam woods always struggles here but he is a vast improvement on the rider kent had in 2013.

Luke Ruddick has undoubted speed and bravery, have seen him lose control all to often. But he is one of those riders that when it all clicks he could jump through the levels very quickly.

And in Jenkins they have the best 3 pointer available in 2017, a great talent that we can enjoy for years.

Good meeting, probably the best I have seen at Kent.

The Kings will take some beating on their home track, particularly if the reserves strengthen up a bit.

Hopwood a bargain on his average, big performance from Thomas and an impressive one from Stoneman.

For the Fen Tigers, only Jenkins stood out.

Stoneman has had a very good start to the season and likes going out wide! Thomas looked poor in the British U21semi so I wasn't expecting that score from him but good on him for getting things sorted.

I'd imagine Thomas hasn't been exposed to a track like Peterborough that often. Far more 'smaller' circuits in the NL than the bigger ones like IOW and Lynn. Hopefully he has a good year, there's not been as much fanfare about him as other youngsters this season so it'd be nice to seem him put a point or two on his average.

Fair enough I just thought with Peterborough being a popular practice track he'd have ridden the place before and he's from Anglia isn't he so he must have ridden KL a bit. Yeah he has gone under the radar but I think that's because he wasn't taking 7 rides and scoring massive figures like some riders, rather steady and continual improvement.

Just my observations on last nights meeting.

A very decent crowd for a chilly evening.

Mildenhall.

Mountain- Did OK but can do a lot better.

Ruddick - Really struggled.

Armstrong - What a credit to the NL,and younger riders must learn a lot from him on/and off the track.

Verge - Average.

Halsey - Seems to struggle at Central Park.

Woods - Does not seem to have improved much to me.

Jenkins - Will be in the main body of team soon, very impressive.

Kings.

Bowen - After 1st Heat spill, class as usual.

Clifton - Did OK,but problem is he will have to stay in main body of team, which could prove hard.

Hopwood - Will put 2 points on his average, great signing.

Thomas - Real progress from him, very bright future.

Stoneham - Wow.What a great debut, reminds me a bit of Shanes,as he battles for all 4 laps and is entertaining.

Reserves - The big problem.

If Kings had Jenkins in their team, they would be in the top three.

Unless Kent can find a diamond (maybe young Rowe)then it will be hard to finish in top 4.

Still early but looking at both teams they will be close together in the League.IMHO :D
