cityrebel
Tomorrow sees the start of a new era at arena with the visit of the eagles to purfleet. It's a big step for the hammers to drop from the EL to the NL, let's hop the fans support it in sufficient numbers.
waco
Just got back from todays practise at Lakeside ,,Ben and Zak looked very quick ,Alfie looked smoother and better than i had imagined he would,,George was trying out a Gerhard engine ,which he looked to be having problems with.,.David looked ok ,as you would expect Nick looked to be having a few problems on the tight corners,.......Pick of those trying for the no7 berth to me was Jamie Couzins looked smooth and quicker than the others,, on what was a very bumpy track,,,hope they can sort it for the meeting tomorrow...Others having a spin were Shane Hazelden who i think will soon get a place somewhere if he wants it...And Paul Hurry who was flying....... Remember 1PM Start time Easter friday afternoon v Eastbourne... Traffic could be heavy so leave early to get there
liam
Not sure what to expect really, I have been to plenty Elite league afternoon meetings at arena and they have been poor. Honestly if Iam still there for heat 15 I'll be surprised.

So you're expecting a poorer than usual track due to it being afternoon, apart from your top 2 even the home riders won't have got used to the raceway until yesterday and most, if not all, of Eastbourne's riders will never have ridden the place before! But you're still judging a whole season against one meeting. Give the club and the riders a chance to prove that the NL is worthwhile. It's still Lakeside after all and you still have a team after all.

I will give it a couple of meetings and if it's as bad as before that will be me. Just my honest opinion mate, hopefully Iam wrong and I really enjoy it. Fair enough but if you're referring to Hackney at Arena Essex, the NL is a genuinely stronger League than those days.

Was that the one where there were a few MDL riders making the teams up. If it is, go with an open mind the Semi finals and final at the IOW yesterday were much better than anything I've seen in the Premiership

I've supported Arena/Lakeside since the beginning and I wish them all the luck in the world I really do but Iam sorry that is just not for me. gazzac
Bates did well there makes you wonder why Plymouth didn't sign him Terrific return after injury, and unexpected by most of us. Perhaps Plymouth had doubts on his recovery?
marko
At least you have it a go Liam, which is a lot more than some of us are prepared to do, i followed the meeting on twitter and noted the sheer amount of re-runs and stoppages which led to a 15 heat meeting taking two hours, can't see many putting up with that come the chilly Friday nights. PS Lakeside really do look top heavy, Eagles lack a number one to be able to beat Ben and Zach, thats all that stood between them and victory. Away is where it could well hurt.
Brummiestormer
Can't believe the negativity of some on here....after our EL demise it's been like a breath of fresh air for us.
waco
Ok Lakeside are very top heavy at home, and need Bowtell and hunter to improve,,Lawrence is what he,s always been a rock bottom grade rider so little improvement expected there..Mcdonald is a potential racer that can,t gate and shuts of on the straight s long before the bends..,hopefully Tatum can iron out these faults,,At present Jaimie Couzins is a better bet than either of these guys if you want points.... Of the young riders on show Eastbourne,s Tom Brennan stood out a mile...Tonight at Easty.we will need improvement from our second strings to stand any chance and thats if our heat leaders are still dominant.... Hope all the riders have a good safe meeting.

Totally agree with you, much prefer the National league to the old Elite league. Best move Eastbourne have done since i started watching. Some people are so gloom and doom

Brian
An excellent attendance for the first meeting, and I have to say I didn't enjoy it and that's from someone who watched the top heavy Raiders last season. The meeting was too disjointed, it seemed to take forever to run some races for various reasons what with falls, tape breaks and deflating air fences. I'll give it another go once the league gets underway. Hope some of those attending today also give it another chance. Felt sorry for George Hunter, he's a better rider than the one shown today. Also thought those bumps going into bend 1 would have been sorted. Now sitting outside the Norfolk Arena for another fix.
