Sidney the robin
Picked these five British greats out,and some go under the radar a bit when remembering how good they really were. The list consists of .Louis,Simmons,E.Boocock,Ashby,Ray.Wilson. here goes and i could look again and change my view constantly 1.Simmons. 2.Wilson, 3.Louis. 4.Ashby. 5.Boocock. Any thoughts...?

OveFundinFan
Perhaps I would swop Louis and Ashby, making 1 Simmo, 2 Wilson, 3 Ashby 4 Louis 5 Boocock but there again, on their best day any of those 5 could be no
Sidney the robin
Perhaps Terry Betts?Great point he is entitled to be in that list. Perhaps I would swop Louis and Ashby, making 1 Simmo, 2 Wilson, 3 Ashby 4 Louis 5 Boocock but there again, on their best day any of those 5 could be no 1 Ove i see Ashby ride alot and he was one hell of a rider i put Louis ahead just only because he did better on the world stage. Whatever has happened to Peter Collins, Nigel Boocock, Les Collins, Dave Jessup, Michael Lee - I would argue that most of them were better than those you mention apart from Simmo. OveFundinFan
I just took it StheR was asking the order of just those 5, on the basis he never mentioned "of all time" or a certain time period. If it was supposed to be the top 5 of all time then the list would be completely different.

Grachan
I'd put Simmons and Louis in a different category to Wilson, Ashby, Boocock as they achieved much more in World terms. Terry Betts is someone I'd put alongside the other three - which leaves one more space to replace Simmons and Louis. So who would that be? Doug Wyer perhaps? Gordon Kennett even who, although, he achieved a World final rostrum place was ever quite in the Simmons/Louis mould? For the 5 metioned I'd go Simmons/Louis/ Ashby (biased)/ Wilson (won't mention 1975)/Boocock.
Sidney the robin
People often forget Wilson did score a maximum in a WTC final but he did underachieve on the world scene. My first memory of Wilson was that he was one of a few who could beat Briggs at the Abbey he was that good.As much as i was gutted that Ashby lost in a run off to Willy in 1975 i still supported Wilson/Jansson in the Wembley final i remember he wore his yellow Bostik leathers. iris123
Simmons, Louis, Wilson, Ashby and Boocock. I'd agree with that
The White Knight
OK then. Just on those five: Simmo, Louis, Wilson, Boocock, Ashby. To be honest - I think that the first three pick themselves.

I think the five are pretty evenly matched WK to be honest and if you added Betts to the list again a very hard call.
keef robin
Add Nigel Booey and Bettsy, nothing to choose between the seven. Would be a great team. Edited April 12, 2017 by beefy keefy
