New Science
To the best of my knowledge, speedway is the only sport that delays the advertised starting time, to allow those outside to come in. It's unprofessional, and shouldn't happen if we want the sport to be taken seriously. Can you image the same thing happening at the British Grand Prix in Cardiff.....of course not? I remember in the late eighties early nineties a delayed start due to congestion at the turnstiles used to be a regular occurrence at Wolves particularly when Cradley were the visitors. But then again they were proper big crowds !
Trees
NO!!! I am not - do away with Double Points and I will be back like a shot. Leave it as it is and I won't be. Answer me this Trees - why should I pay good money to get angry and upset every time the B/W Helmet comes out.? I won't do it any more - at least I can say that I have stuck by my principles - I think, as I suspect you already know, that I believe contriving, conniving, fiddling, cheating is very wrong and I will continue to make my stand against it. So - YES!! - I am sad that I can't bring myself to go - but at least I am trying to do something, and I won't be the only one. I hope this answers your question once and for all. I am aware that most Posters on here don't agree with me, that is their right but I also think some of them respect my views. I have my right to go by what I believe in too, that is my right. Did you go in the tac sub days?
The White Knight
Did you go in the tac sub days? Yes - I did. I didn't like that either. Points should be earned on the Track to create a Result - NOT to contrive a Result. I have answered all of these questions by various people many times before. I respect you and admire your persistence in making your stand but in all honesty is it the ONLY reason you no longer attend.

I promise you that if the Double Points Rule was dropped tomorrow, I would be at Newcastle on Sunday. I still follow the Updates when Belle Vue, Newcastle or Redcar are riding when I can. I know that you and others will think I am daft, but I don't like getting upset and Double Points upsets and angers me very much. I don't care which side gets the Double Points ride - whether it is the Team I support or the opposition - I believe that it is wrong. That is the standpoint that I am coming from. There one or two folk on this Forum who know how angry I get - they have witnessed it - honestly - it just isn't worth it.

Speedway was far better in those days. That is, of course, only my opinion. You never know though- there may be others out there that feel the same as me. daveallan81
What % of final match results have been influenced by double points, and does it make a significant difference ? or what about double points/tack ride/tack sub going from the 15 mt handicap ? and, you only get double ponts if you win and any team can use it anytime and as often as they like ? The 2016 Elite League saw the TR used 63 times. This resulted in 1 win and 1 draw. It was available but not used once. It wasn't available in 47 fixtures. The Premier League saw it used 89 times. This resulted in 5 wins. It was available but not used on 5 occasions. It wasn't available in 62 fixtures. It has been used 10 times so far this season (3 x Prem & 7 x Champ) with no success. ruffdiamond
Most on here will be pleased about that RD. NO,,, most don't even bother The 2016 Elite League saw the TR used 63 times. Has this sort of thing ever been tried ? oh! and it would actually be free (apart from chalk) to implement. IainB
At Leicester (vs Poole) on Saturday we had the ridiculous situation where even the parade was delayed due to the sun, whether that was actually the case or not I don't know, but that was certainly what was announced! Why they didn't run the parade while the sun was setting so they could get racing underway as soon as it had set is beyond me. I'm in my 40th year of following this so called sport and the sun delay seems to be a relatively recent excuse to hold meetings up, I can never remember it being an issue years ago. If it genuinely is an issue whey don't they erect some fencing along the line of where the sun sets (a sight screen), surely it can't come as a surprise that the sun sets in the same place year on year
lucifer sam
1960s/70s wasn't pre-war. Speedway was far better in those days. But I trust you didn't go in the 60s/70s due to tactical substitutes? Unless, of course, TRs are not the only reason you currently largely chose not to attend speedway? All the best Rob

Unless, of course, TRs are not the only reason you currently largely chose not to attend speedway? All the best Rob Yes - I did go actually. Since 1964. But having put up with the fiddles of the Tac Ride and the Tac Sub for so bloody long.. I have seen the light so as to speak. It really is that simple. If the Sport is upsetting and angering you - don't go. I ask you again - why should I pay good money in order to get upset and angry - seems daft to me. I promise you that is the sole reason I no longer attend - I know you don't agree with me and that is fine. I know why I don't go, and I have tried to explain it on this Forum a number of times. I am aware too that some don't believe me. That is their right. I can only Post in good faith my reasons for none attendance. What people choose to believe is up to them.
