iris123
STOP IT. It's killing the sport. The start time announced should be the time the meeting starts. Stop pissing off the fans who get their on time. Remember the time i went up to Denmark for the Danish 80cc Final, only to find just as the meeting should have started that they had forgot to book a doctor and had to ring around on a sunday afternoon to find one.Of course we had to wait around until one arrived.About an hour or so and just as the meeting started,so did the rain and got heavier and heavier!!!!! SCB
It's happened at KL tonight. Which is what prompted this thread.. More meetings have had delayed starts than have not in 2017. Amazing isn't it? People want to see speedway but promoters clearly think their product is so crap people won't want to watch it so don't have the resources to get people in a lot quicker. I have witnessed two of the worst examples this season (Peterborough v Coventry and Leicester v Swindon) and in both cases it was obvious well over an hour before the scheduled start time that there would be problems and yet absolutely nothing was done!
Bald Bloke
If a club states tapes up at 7.30 and theres 200 fans still to get in,what do they do.If they start on time some of the 200 won't come back.If they wait 15mins the rest winge.

Not if the announcer clearly explains the reason for delay as most people even if they had got it for the advertised time would be quite pleased the sport was attracting a big enough attendance to have people still queueing up outside but if it happened every week the promotion should have another turnstile ready to open. They get their arse into gear at 7.15 OR EARLIER. And complete the easy peasy simple task of gettng those 200 in for 7.30. Promoters are total idiots for not sorting this out. And sycophantic supporters who make excuses for them are actually worse.
Daniel Smith
The King's Lynn promotion have warned and advised fans tonight will be a one-off as it's the first meeting of the season. Start times will now be adhered to regardless

If you don't have the resources to get people in quickly enough then get the resources. Most of the time the crowds are nothing's special, it's just poor organisation. Peterborough for example was just 3 ladies taking their time to take cash and put it in a till. Christ they were in no rush. If you're charging £16 for example to get in have piles of £4 to give as change. If you have to, stick a table at the end with an exact change only sign. Hand over the exact change, get handed a ticket, money gets thrown in a bucket. Cuts the time down massively. What about the 800 that are already in the stadium, having made the effort to get there on time, some of whom may well have work to go to later in the evening? Should they be late for their paid employment because others sit in their cars in the car park until 5 minutes before the start time? The only time a delayed start should happen is if there has been major disruption on the roads leading to a stadium or other such unforeseen circumstances. Well done Lynn for stating starts will not be delayed again, let's hope they stick to it.
ruffdiamond
a lot of fans do get there really early, is it to get in before the car park attendant and save their quid, or maybe they don't lose their space/seat ??? so surely, those folk wouldn't have a valid cause to complain
steve roberts
When I used to go to the speedway someone I went with always left it to the last minute arriving just as the meeting was about to start...and then used to complain that he missed the first race! TheScotsman
Ps regarding the £4 in piles... that's what they do at foxhall They do indeed but folk complain that most of the punters are geriatrics and there is only 1 old timers' gate so there's a big queue there!!
STARRGAZER1
Why don't all clubs have the facility to buy tickets on line. Believe Belle Vue offer this at no extra cost.

steve roberts
don't old folk(most of), just moan anyway, gives them something to do ...don't complain about 'old folk' because apparently without them there wouldn't be any speedway considering the problems the sport has attracted youngsters. Old .C.O. would not delay the start for anything ever , he even had signs in the changing rooms 1st race 7.30 no excuses , meeting at Cov always ran like clockwork under his stewardship , woe betide anyone who didn't conform
