But any time I've been to the EWR its been very processional with no passing - I can only speak from my own experience. Â I didn't go last year, as I was put off from previous visits when the "racing" has been processional. Sounds like they've corrected whatever was causing it to be that way, so worth another visit to see what the fuss is about but really I was put off by how it was before. When it's done properly it's up there with Peterborough as the best track in the country . He wasn't too hot at P&P and as usual, looks down at his equipment pretending there's something wrong. Hopefully Glasgow won't mess about and will axe him if he's not up to form. Looking forward to seeing our 4 youngsters in the team impressing and also looking forward to Richard Lawson who looked on fire on Sunday, and Richie Worrall who hopefully along with Bewley can become an asset soon! I’ve been to many of the Scunthorpe v Glasgow meetings since 2010, and I seem to recall many good meetings amongst them, but each to their own.  James Grieves was always a bit at sea on a wide-open racer’s track and tended to get passed on all sides, but on the other hand, the likes of Joe Screen, Josh the Scrabbleman and even Mitchell Davey have flown around the EWR. The 2016 encounter wasn’t the greatest (probably the weakest meeting at the EWR in 2016), but a 4pm start in July with the sun blazing down meant quite a dusty track. I recall great races in Heats 13 & 15, though; didn’t Josh Auty go from last to first in the space of a single bend in one of those?  I think Scorpions will put up a decent show on Saturday. Our visit in 2016 came early on, when the team was quite a bit different – MPT, Lewis Kerr or Fritz The Blitz weren't in the team at that point. And advisable not to put yourself on a pedestal when - in fact - any time I've been (7 or 8 times the last few years) the "racing" has been pathetic and a complete "yawnfest", processional with no passing - that's the fact of it, it may be unpalatable to you but that's how it's been any time I've visited the EWR and the reason why I've no great wish to return there any time soon. Â By contrast I've found Ashfield to be a real racers track, and far better than the EWR which I've found to be way, way, WAY over-rated and processional with no passing any time I've been to the EWR. I can only speak from my own experience. You have been very unlucky on your visits.Have been a few times and never seen a bad meeting. IronScorpion Posted April 1, 2017 Report Share Posted April 1, 2017 Josh seems to be not up to speed only getting his points off lower riders or gifted points thro falls/retirements.  as I said previous postings, Josh A not quite there. Regularly beating lower guys but can't beat top racers. To be fair you could only do better than last year but fair play to the Scorps they certainly made a fist off things up until the latter heats. But as it was our first team meeting off the season the younger lads are finding there feet but very encouraging signs on that front. Â Very impressed with Tom Perry tonight looked smooth and quick and whilst young Dan & Jack didn't score as many as hoped they are only going to click especially Dan the heat he won from Auty and Wallner was very fast and stylish. Â All in all a satisfactory start to the campaign and this team will take some stopping once they are all up to speed. If MPT could gate it would have been a serious fright. Auty put in a standard Ashfield performance with Douglas and Kerr starting well but fading. Wallner looked decent for a first visit from reserve. Â A decent ish opener, the floodlights under darkness were superb and added to the atmosphere. Jack Smith looks a bit raw and Bewley lacked speed all night even though he won a heat. He'll have to be on the pace next week as NCL will be a much bigger challenge. Very impressed with Tom Perry tonight looked smooth and quick Absolutely, a decent start though was lucky his chain snapped exiting turn 4 than entering in ht7.
