Peterborough V Scunthorpe C1 24/3/17

Far from a convincing performance. Good crowd a massive plus factor. Why do we still have to have lengthy delay between heats 14 and 15 and why is Jack Holder not properly kitted out like the rest of team.

I think it was a satisfactory result, still needs improvement from at least 4 of our team if we are going to be challenging for honours. I'm not convinced at the moment

totally different track to last week , Lambert and BWD had engine gremlins ,would imagine/ guess Bacon has never been so fast or ridden such a grippy track (he'll score decent points at home against some right dross when he's dialled in ) , plenty of positives considering , I doubt panthers are anywhere near good enough to be up there at the minute (gonna get some right batterings on road ) but they have 3 riders who could up there average considerably

Because Holders racesuit is being made in Poland (separately from the others) and it isn't done yet apparently.

BWD needs to be cleaning up at reserve to make using a 5 pointer at reserve worthwhile over a number 1 for example.

This also has to be the season that Simon Lambert kicks on from being a second string/reserve at PL level.

This team needs to go unbeaten at home and cannot carry any passengers.

I thought it was an good first league meeting and enjoyed it, a few more spills than usual, hopefully Kerr is ok but on the whole an enjoyable and entertainting match.

Scunthorpe made a fist of it with plenty of effort but Panthers top four always looked better and generally seemed to be in control.

The track was completely different to last Sunday and had loads of grip, too much at the end when I spoke to one of our team but I think our team will get used to it and hopefully the track will be the same in the future.

Nice to see Ulrich have a good meeting and he was well backed up by Starke, Hansen and Holder and even the bottom three chipped in with a dozen between them, for the Scorpions Palm Toft was their outstanding man and Wallner started well but the others were a but hit and miss for various reasons.

I've been puzzled by that because we saw him presented with one at P&P - guessing now he probably collected Paul Starke's for him.

The first official match of the season & a guest rider , at reserve too. How do we expect our sport to be taken seriously. Why no have an extra youngster signed up , get rid of guests

I agree a number 8 could have been used at the No. 7 position and would be a signed up member of the club.

There will was and Ged has said will be purchasing extra tills so keep your hair on..... two meetings into the season, Christ

They did try by utilising the Season Ticket one but only if you had correct money - then Trevor turned up with a till and that speeded it up - I drove in at 7.10 although sat in the car for five mins expecting the queue to subside but when it didn't appear so joined it in the Car Park. At 7.30 GED was at the entrances trying to help and I thought well while he is down here they won't start. I did not miss Heat 1 so it must have started late but didn't check the actual time. As he said on the Mike later he will sort it but it is a nice problem to have - or similar.

Good all round performance..Ged mentioned in the E.T today that they will be closely monitoring the riders performances..Early days but looks like Tom Bacon and BWD might need some encouragement to brave it out in the dirt.

Tom needs time to adjust to this level of racing and BWD didn't look fast enough - when he did move out he got caught up the inside a couple of times. He looks to have a lot of ability give him time. Edited by maneacat

Starke, Ostergaard and Hansen were very good

Holder was very inconsistent 2 wins, a gifted second and a last place

They appeared to struggle getting BWD's bikes going.

Lambert was just Lambert, no shortage of effort, some erratic riding but in general slow. I do hope he enjoys his big day Sunday though.

Ha ha BWD a passenger, he will be in the first 5 sooner rather than later.

Just a few observations from Friday evening. Really didn't understand the need for Jack Holder to run across the centre green and receive a 'birthday present.' Just get on with the meeting and do that in a break! Can't see Peterborough winning away anywhere with that side, maybe just Scunthorpe with some luck. However, at home they'll be decent. Hansen was excellent value, flying around the boards. Holder looked good when in front, couldn't make an impact really otherwise. Lambert is just Lambert. Starke was really impressive, looked very quick. Think Bacon will take some time to get going and not sure Peterborough is his type of track but the ability is there.

Not overly impressed with Scunthorpe, they clearly don't have an out and out number one. Wallner was superb too watch, going for any gap he could see and will be fantastic to watch all season.

What break was that then?
