Najjer
So reading all the previous comments it really does put alot of pressure now on your number 6 who probably gets 5 rides every meeting and will be expected to score big .. Somerset won the league doing just that last year. Probably very few occasions the no.7 actually took all 4 rides.
Crazy robin
Both reserves should have to do their 4 rides & only get extra rides if they replace a rider in the top 5. Been saying that ever since the draft system was brought in as it destroys the lesser reserve only getting 3 rides & hardly helps their development & confidence.

Which would destroy a young riders confidence more 1,0,0,0 or 1,0,0 I'd say the former. These guys being around the pits with the more experienced riders is where they'll learn the most. The number of rides between 3 or 4 isn't going to affect confidence much to the No7s unless they're a bit big head.
Fred5
It's funny that the signing of Graversen was mocked initially, but people are now saying he's likely to be the best no.7 in the league. Agree, the Rebels have two very strong reserves.

Whilst i completely agree that the most learning will be done in the pits all riders at whatever level want to be out on track and i think the hardest hit to confidence will be being told they are being dropped from a ride rather than being out on track trying to score points. Whilst it would never work (because the rule would easily be abused) if both reserves had to take 4 rides the team mates would have to look at helping them the best they can rather than looking for the ideal heat to replace them in. Bagpuss
I'd certainly not be against both reserves having to take four rides as it would make it more of a team effort. Reserves shouldn't be able to be swapped either otherwise the poor number seven would get the three hardest rides after heat two. This rule should have been in place for the draft system without doubt. Only trouble would be teams abusing the rule with convenient 'injuries'.
SCB
It's funny that the signing of Graversen was mocked initially, but people are now saying he's likely to be the best no.7 in the league. He should be, having taken up 2.5 points more than almost all others. He's still a terrible signing as he won't beat any of the other teams top 6 either. However as the reserves are no longer protected most will only get 3 rides a meeting and be swapped out of heat 8 in favour of their stronger reserve partner. The sport as its nature is sink or swim so there may be some who suffer a confidence drop but if 2 or 3 make it then i would call it a success. They are protected, they have to ride at number 7 meaning they will ride against the opposing number 7 3 times and the opposing number 6 3 times. Plus 2 of the 2,3, 4 or 5 depending on if they're riding home or away. Edited March 22, 2017 by SCB

Last year in the second tier , heat fours were protected for the number sevens , not sure if that is the case this year , but it should be in both leagues

proud panther
Hope the number 7's are guaranteed pay for 3 points, or they won't have any chance of breaking even, never mind make a profit.

Well he's only poor not terrible as a signing then And his job is to beat the other teams no 7s No it's not. His job is to score 4 points a meeting. Take into account the point limit is a higher than breakeven then you can bring it down to about 3.3. He's not going to do that IMO.
