No Loyality To British Riders

Recommended Posts

Sadly the biggest damage to British riders was done by Mr Sandha closing Coventry, as they had 5 Brits ready to go.

Elsewhere it is congratulations to Rye House (6 Brits) and Belle Vue (4 Brits).

The BSPA Chairman has 3 at King's Lynn and there are 3 at Wolves.

Shame on Poole, Swindon, Somerset and Leicester who have only scraped together the minimum compulsory 2 Brits.

As british speedway is bottom of the dumps at the moment I reckon they should rebuild primarily using british riders.

I would make the rule each team has to have at least 3 brits in the main team and the 2 reserves brits also.

Stop the poles riding over here, why give them the experience riding our tracks and then effectively stop most top riders riding over here.

Sadly reflects the decision makers choice of how to spend the 15 years of Sky money ( used to pay big names ) and now spending a huge amount on Gerhadt engines - that seemingly few riders are opting for. The state that British speedway is in now we should be using all of the British riders who want to ride and build up our own stock for the future. The only way forward is to use home grown talent if we want speedway to thrive in the UK. And - where is this Big Marketing Push we were promised by the BSPA. Will it start when BT begin covering domestic speedway?

You have such fine lines for team building with the stupid points limits. You can't afford to choose British riders. You just have to go with the best combination of averages that fits.

Don't blame the teams.

British riders should all be contracted before any club is allowed to approach an overseas rider, doubling -up (seemingly a current necessity) should only be offered to British riders, as should the chance to ride as a guest.

An obvious and sensible idea to improve British speedway talent.. which means it will never be accepted. But I am not sure on the legalities of EU law with this idea.

Any overseas rider who can't commit to the full fixture list of the club of his intentions, should be blocked by the BSPA.

I agree on this, none of this first or second team choice bollocks. If an overseas rider can not commit to 100% of their British clubs fixtures then they should not be contracted.

It's the promoters who run the teams, so they are to blame.

all I can say is well done rye house 6 brits and Swindon 3 young brits

given a chance the rest need to take a hard look if they want BRITISH

speedway to grow and flourish and become the sport we all really want

Belle Vue have four and a couple are quite young.

We're hoping the locally sourced Colts will help things grow and flourish.

The senior team has also done away with this need to fly riders in and out of the country whilst perfectly cabable UK riders sit on the side lines.

There should be a minimum of four Brits per team IMO. Will the rest of the league go for it.

For the good of British speedway back the red white and black, sorry blue!

The sensible thing would be for the authorities from each league to get together and determine an order of priority for riders in the even of clashes. Given there is no agreement it seems reasonable for Poland to draw a line in the sand.

Rather than getting stroppy about it, the BSPA should put together their own counter proposal, based on similar regulation to which are already applicable to the British leagues,

You can't really blame Poland, as the dominant league, for stepping into the vacuum and trying to protect their teams.
