britmet
Leicester Super at 586 yards and 2 feet used to rival Hamburg and Rowley Park Adelaide for the one mile records. Seem to recall Jack Chapman and Arthur Jervis being especially fast. . How old are you ? .
piston197
I seem to remember one of the motorcycle papers ( motorcycle or MCN) testing a speedway bike, possibly Simon Wigg on board? on a beach somewhere to actually see how fast it would go , remember that they ran out of gearing before they explored the limits of the top speed, but it was something in excess of 100MPH and 120MPH comes to mind. Not relevant to a speedway track, but quite obvious why speedway engines are ideal for sprinting

Not relevant to a speedway track, but quite obvious why speedway engines are ideal for sprinting I remember he did a test at a road racing track and as his speed increased he lost control of direction and went onto the grass and had a tank slapper. That was on TV. Tigerite
If that's the average speeds what do you reckon the top speed would be at say Sheffield Not sure, the big corners at Owlerton mean the riders don't scrub too much speed off in the corners but the fast guys must be well over 70mph going down the home straight.
