Hodgy
By highlights show l mean show every race and interviews, could start at half 8 for an hour rather then 2 hours and if it catches up with the live action all well and good Fair enough but guess you can stick with what you're doing. Wish that remote would work when attending live meetings.
bruno
Not sure if that was a dig hodgy but I'm not an armchair fan by any means, I miss no home meetings, very few away and take in at least a dozen pl,cl meetings , individuals including starting at the Ben fund this year. Apologies if I've misread your comments
THE DEAN MACHINE
polish tv do a highlights show on a sunday night after the 2 matches shown live showing about 5 heats from all the extraleague matches that day and have a couple of guests in the studio each week and they also put a couple of features about riders or tracks or subjects within the sport and it works very well , its well presented is a must watch even if you don't have a clue what they are saying except if an English speaking rider is on it but and to me it is a but the polish tv company is very good a capturing what an exciting sport speedway can be ,they seem to know where to put camera's to get the best shot etc and imo that's what sky or bt or whoever should be looking to if they put a highlights programme together ,if something happens in polish match the camera and the comentators are on it , they rarely miss a trick ,yet in british tv meetings I find myself screaming at the tv because something happens and its either missed or glossed over

The EOES must be one of the coldest places on earth.

In fact they can be bloody cold. I have fffffffffrozen my bits off at both venues at times.
bruno
I went to Scunthorpe for the Xmas meetings or new year proberly about 2008 time, that was cold. I think that's the only time I've ever left a meeting before the end. Our league meeting there in about 2010 came a close second though

I have fffffffffrozen my bits off at both venues at times. Yes been to both - "it's grim up North"! Don't think I've ever felt so cold than many a March / April / Oct meeting at the wide open EOES. All most of us want is for them to 'get on with it'! No interval (unless you're going to use it to promote) - plenty of time to grab a pint or burger during the tractor race intervals. I went to Scunthorpe for the Xmas meetings or new year proberly about 2008 time, that was cold. I think that's the only time I've ever left a meeting before the end. Our league meeting there in about 2010 came a close second though Didn't really consider those Xmas & New Year meetings. For the reason you state and always felt they were challenging the weather.
Gemini
Great idea! Could draw someone sat in a 'Go Outdoors' camping chair with a 'Gola' bag hanging off the back of it, with a Tupperware box of Corned Beef (tinned never that fresh stuff) and Beetroot Sandwiches sticking out of the top, adjacent to a Tartan flask of Bovril..... Tartan blanket across the knee (with tassles of course) and a three decades old sleeveless frayed denim jacket full of 'happiness is 40-38' sew on patches, to complete 'the look' Hang about, on second thoughts I could just send them a photo!!!! Not forgetting the prone dog fast asleep on a blanket, just to complete the real family image that SCB loves so much. It really is so boring hanging around in the usual cold weather. The EOES must be one of the coldest places on earth. Agree but think Swindon comes a very close second. Mind you it will probably be a bit warmer now all those houses have been built.
crazysue
It hasn't so far Steve. It was the television coverage that got me interested in Speedway again after a 10 year absence and for my eldest son, made him nag me to take him.
waytogo28
How can I watch that Polish TV highlights programme on Sundays? What is the name of the broadcast company? Any tips would be appreciated. When they did offered Pay Per View I paid for a monthly pass for live matches and that was excellent value. Presumably it did not raise enough revenue. Danny Connor
Tv got me into it. Back in 2000. Hardly missed a home meeting since. I think speedway works great on telly. Been to some rotten meetings. Follow the leader. Went home. Watched me meeting back with the drama of a great commentator it's really built it up. Also I always think racing looks closer on the telly too. Sky have done a good job. How can speedway use tv to their advantage though. It lets people know its out there but they cannot use footage for promotional stuff. Other than cheap admittance when tv is in town and advertising future meetings on top of that. Some people just don't buzz for speedway. I don't buzz for rugby. I think most tv viewers do attend meetings. And most speedway fans who attend meetings also watch tv meetings involving other clubs. We are a passionate bunch for our sport. That's why the viewing figures hold up. And that's why some people on here moan about things. Iguess it's like politics where everybody says they would run the country differently.

Bagpuss
Personally I think a carp meeting looks worse on telly than live. At least it's loud and smelly if you're there.
Grand Central
I notice on the SGB website that they have put up a short video of a winter race at Scunthorpe. The Tapes Up production is described as being "licensed by GSI/BSPA agreement". So whatever else is happening behind the scenes with TV contracts. Any hopes that the Russell stranglehold on media rights is over may be premature. Shame. Edited March 4, 2017 by Grand Central
steve roberts
Personally I think a carp meeting looks worse on telly than live. At least it's loud and smelly if you're there. I remember some years ago when on holiday in Wales SKY were transmitting a match from Foxhall Heath between Ipswich and Oxford. The back straight was void of people and the racing bland to say the least. I eventually got up and went for a walk in the woods nearby because I found the experience quite dull and the commentators attempting to make something good out of mundane irritating. Speedway is far better viewed live trackside when you can have a banter with your mates etc.

Presumably it did not raise enough revenue.I paid for the speedway. tv offical stream as well- i'm still waiting for my refund for the final that never happened !!!The highlights programme is on Sunday evenings broadcast by N sport who are the company that broadcast at least 2 matches from the Extraleague every week. If you keep an eye on the international section you will find that i have a thread going with all the Polish speedway that is televised and or internet coverage where there is a fair bit. Lots of us watch all this action through streams - not legal however streams are normally excellent quality. There is also Polish div 1 (Nice Polska) shown every weekend on Polsat channel.

Trevor
I'm another one who got back into the sport after a long absence due to Sky's coverage. If the rumours are true, it would be the biggest knock to the sport this winter, in my view.
