cityrebel
The 8 meetings I have attended this season have attracted decent crowds. Unfortunately the racing has been pretty poor.
SCB
Crowds at the First three meeting at Rye have been exceptional, just like the late seventies where we were dominant. Good Friday meeting at Lakeside where the crowd was much larger that many Elite league matches last year and a very healthy crowd Easter Monday for the visit of Lakeside to Kent. Also another good looking crowd for the rain off KL v RH. Rye seem to be boosted by Lakeside dropping down, many Hammers supporters dotted around the place. I would imagine Rye are boosted by Lakeside and Bees fans wanting and EL fix and Rye fans being interested in something a little different. I hope it continues. Always good to hear a clubs attendances are up.
allthegearbutnaeidea
Crowds have been up significantly at Berwick despite the results so far this season, Edinburgh was busier than usual imo last week as well
waytogo28
The 8 meetings I have attended this season have attracted decent crowds. Unfortunately the racing has been pretty poor. And there lies the heart of the problem. Even decent early season crowds ( which are natural ) will fade away if the racing fare put in front of them is dire. Don't prepare a track for the home side - prepare a track that anyone of the visitors can have a go on. Just two or three really good races per meeting won't hold people's attention or loyalty after a few meetings and definitely not newcomers who venture in expecting more than 3 exciting minutes for £18.

Tell this to Ipswich.
marko
Attendances are always up at the start of the season as people have started to get the bug back over the winter months, but as the novelty wears off and people remember why it was they couldn't wait for the previous season to end, the numbers will naturally drop back to an average, we have also been lucky with the weather so far as not much rain has fallen or been predicted to fall, at least in the southern counties, so the key will be how many will travel when its a damp chilly evening knowing that the obligatory slick track won't be able to take much of the wet stuff before it becomes dangerous. Then you have the TV factor when it starts, will the fact it's on BT sport mean less people will watch it at home and go to the track in person? I very much doubt it. topsoil
Crowds have been up significantly at Berwick despite the results so far this season, Edinburgh was busier than usual imo last week as well Four very good crowds so far this season at Berwick, the one exception was Ipswich in the Cup, but even that was bigger than most of last season. Far better racing this season as well. Just a pity about results. It has also been good weather this season so far, which helps a lot. The next two meetings will probably have a drop-off, Scunthorpe and Ipswich won't have many travelling fans (understandable). So far the presentation and racing has been far better this season. The new promotion are getting a lot of things right. It just needs results to follow now.
